Why is it that when I drive along in my MY2000 911 C4 all the Impreza drivers seem determined to race me? I will give my car the odd 'boot' around, but you guys seem so determined to go hell for leather at all times?

911Boy 30 November 2001, 10:04 Why is it that when I drive along in my MY2000 911 C4 all the Impreza drivers seem determined to race me? I will give my car the odd 'boot' around, but you guys seem so determined to go hell for leather at all times? Bin Laden 30 November 2001, 10:06 They like the idea of a £7500 car embarrasing a £55000 car. They dont realise that it is a question of looks and class too. 911Boy 30 November 2001, 10:08 I know what you mean Bin. What do you drive? chuckster 30 November 2001, 10:17 LOL Thats the first time I've seen anyone describe their 911 as MYXX instead of 964 993 996(yours I presume) Nice post, I hope you get some satisfaction from the many quality replies this question deserves ;) Chuck (Not enough boot space in a 993 to tempt me, and I'd never dream of owning a water cooled 911 ;) ) 911Boy 30 November 2001, 10:21 Thanx for the vote Chuck Yes its a 996, but I notice that this site uses the MY format, and 'When in Rome' and all that. TonyBurns 30 November 2001, 10:32 Ive a friend who's just sold his 911, a 1972 one in nice yellow (lhd) and bought.... you guessed it, a scoob ;) The only down side is that he says the scoob is a bit quicker than hes use to  but would love to own one :D Remember seeing that article in one of the motoring magazines about ownership of a 911, and the costs of it, the guy loved the car and sold it for what he bought it for after about a year, but the running costs were horrendous :( (im talking servicing, new bits and other things that went wrong with the car) and to say that this car was fairly new too :( ...... Now you know why i dont buy german ;) Tony 911Boy 30 November 2001, 10:52 I admit that ownership costs are a lot higher than a Scooby, but its a considerably better car (in my opinion anyway). It is a different type of transport and somethimes you have to pay for class :-) As for the Scooby being quicker than a 72 911, I'm not surprised. Thats a 29 year old car, with nothing like the performce of the current model. 911Boy 30 November 2001, 10:53 One other point. I'm not sure how to add the faces etc. to any message I do, so the tone may not be right.....could anyone let me know how these are done ;-) chuckster 30 November 2001, 11:01 Sure wink = ; ) without the space : ) = :) : D = :D : cool : = : mad : = images/smilies/mad.gif : p = :p : rolleyes : = There are loads more about, but that should cover u, I suggest using  for sarcasm, alot of people don't get it. ;) And forget about irony LOL Chuck [Edited by chuckster - 11/30/2001 10:02:34 AM] TonyBurns 30 November 2001, 11:02 ok ill split the faces 4 u ; ) = ;) just dont put one of those - in there : D = :D As for performance... ok the scoob aint the classiest car around and is cheaper to run than most performance cars (and ok its japanese) but apart from that the standard package is pretty good ;) Most out of the bag imprezas wont be a match for a 996 but things like the boxters aint a match for a uk car in performance ;) it is nice to be a giant killer thou (ive a 348gt and a M3 under the belt, 321bhp one and that i was pulling away in my PPP'd uk car) (Prodrive performance pack, its a dealer option on uk cars to up the power and torque, making the car a bit more drivable ;)) Would love a 911, a classic one would be great to own but as i dont have a garage and live in a high risk area :( its not worth getting my door booted down by the scum out there images/smilies/mad.gif Tony 911Boy 30 November 2001, 11:11 Thanx for the ;) :) :D cool: mad: :P rolleyes Chick and Tony. I must admit one thing though. I do think Scooby's are a decent package for the cash LOL. TonyBurns 30 November 2001, 11:14 :p its a bit of a pain that one :( its : p and not :P, i usually get it wrong lol! Tony ;):D 911Boy 30 November 2001, 11:14 Not quite right......lets try again..... rolleyes := cool := mad := 911Boy 30 November 2001, 11:16 Difinitely this time mad: :p :D cool: 911Boy 30 November 2001, 11:17 mad : cool : rolleyes: Seamus 30 November 2001, 11:18 Colons each side of the word and no spaces! Sean. chuckster 30 November 2001, 11:18 :mad : without the space... ;) Mungo 30 November 2001, 11:18 Why on earth has this been moved to the Motorsport forum? I know the thread is called "Racing" but.... 911Boy 30 November 2001, 11:18 last attempt....sorry all. :cool :mad :rolleyes chuckster 30 November 2001, 11:19 BTW...the 2 impreza's sitting on my drive cost more (together) than a 996 C4 , horses for courses! Chuck [Edited by chuckster - 11/30/2001 10:20:49 AM] 911Boy 30 November 2001, 11:20  images/smilies/mad.gif  As for being moved.....I'm not sure why? Seamus 30 November 2001, 11:20 Keep trying, we're all following your progress :) 911Boy 30 November 2001, 11:21 Thanx for all the help with that. Sorry took sooooo long. :D chuckster 30 November 2001, 11:26 True, was worthy of being moved, but muppet forum would have been more appropriate LOL C 911Boy 30 November 2001, 11:31 Cheers chuck  chuckster 30 November 2001, 11:37 Damn, it seems we've come full circle and now 911boy is the master of smilies :D (Taught you too well Anakin) Chuck Seamus 30 November 2001, 11:38 Anyway back your original post! Tell me about the 996. I went from an MY01 Boxster 2.7 (bit disappointed to be honest) to the Scoob, but have noticed the prices of used 996's coming down a bit. Had any problems/quibbles etc? Running costs (exclude fuel/insurance) can't be that high? I would never get rid of the Scooby though, much fun for the money. chuckster 30 November 2001, 11:43 996 is alot better for the average punter in terms of running. Porsche brought in menu pricing for servicing and parts became cheaper than earlier models IIRC. They also recently cut option prices by loads - which may be a reason residuals slipped a little. In real terms there's never been a better model to own and run. I'd still want a 964 RS as my ideal 911, but thats strictly 2 seater and a bit extravagant for a track car :( . Chuck Seamus 30 November 2001, 11:52 Or even an RSR, go the whole hog eh ;) Friend of mine has a 1973 911E and it costs an absolute fortune to do the simplest things (ie £100's to replace those daft cardboard door pockets), and then there was the time the shelf in his garage collapsed on top of the car... For the short time I had the Boxster (5 months, lost 1K only on new price when I sold it!) I kind of enjoyed it, but I had incidents like people spitting in it outside a pub. Can do without that. M Hutton 30 November 2001, 12:02 Chuck I'm still laughing at 911's new name for you :D See you later CHICK (sic) ;) |
