I want to throw light from a ceiling fitment onto two separate 70-80 cm high sculptures which are at shoulder height around 4 metres away.

Any ideas?

Does the centre light have to light the entire room also? If so you may be best with some sort of track lighting.

As John says, consider a track or a multiple spot - I'd use 240v mains halogens - get the ones with a 10 degree beam like these (http://www.lightpoint.co.uk/index.php?productID=157)
