View Full Version : Burns is Staying with SUBARU...............

Or at least with my theory he is !

Ok,Ok I've been streching my pessimistic imagination once again BUT............I say again BUT it does make sense, even if I find it hard to believe myself !
Please take timeout to read this as it was a theory I came up with several months ago but at the time nobody took it serious.

The Scenario:-

Subaru are feared of only one rival team next year that being Pug,mainly because of the drivers and also the car, they had realised this at an early stage of the 2001 season.
Having decided that something must be done to stop this 'One horse race' from occuring they set about a plan,

1 - Let Burnsie innocently show interest in Pug's offers of contracting him for 2002. ;)

2 -Let Burnsie 'Verbally' agree to this offer and "Accidently" leak this midseason to everyone, but obviously he has no comments to make on the "Rumour". ;)

What this has now achieved is that during the silly season Pug do not even look at other drivers such as Tommi because they "Think" that they've got Burnsie, therefore allowing all the top drivers to be signed up by the other teams.

Near the end of the silly season(Now) SWRT suddenly kick up a fuss regarding Subarus Contract with Burnsie and say that he cannot be released from it early, therefore Burnsie turns round to Pug and says:-

"Well hey sorry guys but a contracts a contract, maybe next year hey...........No hard feelings eh" :p

What a master stroke,Pugs left without a "Full unbeatable" team for 2002 and good old Burnsie stays at Subaru and looks like the innocent victim of legally binding contracts of employment.

Ok whats made me think of this Scam:-

a - I just can't imagine Burns at Pug or Provero to be more precise.

b - News such as this does'nt get "Leaked" months prior to the official announcement

c - I still feel that the 2002 Subaru line up is'nt complete.........but who is left apart from Auriol ?

d - Everytime Burns is interviewed on the subject he breaks into this nervous "cat that got the cream" type of expression, along with Lapworth for that matter..........obviously not good liers.

e -He's desperate to become the WRC(OK I wrote this a while ago) and knows that Subaru are the only people to take him there ..........Blagggggghhhhhh(Sorry could'nt resist that one)

Further to the above it has now come to my imagination that Pug suspected some kind of "Complications" during the negotiations with Burns, this is why they have kept hold of Auriol and instructed him to keep saying such things like "Well I don't know,it appears that nobody wants me so unless things change I will be without a car for next year"..............What a load of Crap,of course teams want him but Peugeot will have offered him either a full WRC drive if Burns does'nt show up and a Griffone drive on WRC salery if he does,so either way Auriol is happy.
It appears to me that this could be the Biggest SCAM in Rallying history and if so I think that Mr Lapworth,Mr Burns,Mr Provero & Mr Auriol should all be nominated for Oscars this year:rolleyes:..............Come on this is a SCAM that even the CIA would be proud of.
Oh yeah and anybody who says that Subaru can't afford both Tommi & Richard just think how much money the Marlboro sponsership is worth.............Marlboro,Marlboro who mentioned that :D

So Okay thats my thoughts on the subject....What do ya reckon....Does it make sense ?

I hope your theory is right 555 BOY.

Not only because he is a great driver as he has now proof, but because of his WRC title he has become a very valuable comercial figure for Subaru, and not just only in UK.
