The over flow from the water tank in my loft has water running from it all night ( its ok during the day time ) there is obviously a problem but when i wwnt up to the loft to inspect i have no idea on what i am looking for ( im no good at diy).Any ideas ( i cannot afford to call a plumber out) ..thks

It sound like the rubber washer in your Ballcock, about £1 front B&Q . you will need to turn your water off , then there will be a tap like thing in your tank , with a long arm and a ball on the end, this section will screw off the main tap, as it screws off there is a washer seal inside , that the bugger you need to change, if you have a brass/steel/copper arm with the ball on you could try bending the arm lower in the water to hold a tighter seal, hope this helps a little, if your close to dudley i could pop and fix it ,

Yeah as above.
Would bend the arm down slightly to begin with as this might solve the problem.
If not its worth replacing the whole ballcock, they are cheap as chips and much easier to replace than fiddling around with washers etc.

I was gonna suggest a new ballcock unit. If your water is owt like ours, the old one will be so limed up it'll be virtually impossible to get it apart:(
