The only thing I would say is that its really difficult to read the gauge in daylight. This was after fitting one of those similar type gauges for a friend.

Got the same gauges fitted in my car. No problems seeing them in daylight for me. :wonder:

Personally, I wouldn't bother with just boost though, I've got oil temp and pressure also in a 3 gauge A-pillar pod.

Steve - Theres pictures of the pod i have fitted on the 'A' pillar on my web site. This housing replaces the existing 'A' pillar trim so you can reposition the alarm sensor.

They look very good indeed.

£50 thats a bit pricey, i have just ordered one for £15 which is in black instead of the matching cream but a can of spray paint covers that!

Been a while since I posted on this topic.
I have finaly bought this kit and the pod fits very well to the pillar. Looks great but gauge is not very clear in daylight because of the smoked glass. Looks ok when the backlight is on. I posted on the lighting and wiring forum because I was not sure on the electrical connection. Used a feed from the headlight height adjustment switch. This switch is very easy to remove. Pulled the plug connector from the back of the switch and checked for live feed with my test meter. Purple wire is the switch backlight power, Black is the negative wire. Spliced into these and the Boost gauge backlight works with the side lights. I may change to an ignition live so that the Gauge is backlit all the time, to make it easier to see in daylight. Hope this of help to others?

Rob, with them wired into the radio, as in your other thread, the backlight will come on when you turn the ignition :)

Paul,
Thanks for that. I think it's easier to wire to the switch than the radio?
But I will take a look at the radio option and see how hard or not it is to connect?

got this pod and guage, if u wire it into the interior light u can use the switch to turn it on and off as u like, this is wot i done. all i did is remove the lamp then wrap the wirearoud the terminals then run the wire behind the blind and down the a piller behind the trim.

Pod looks good, the gauge looks a bit out of place, but each to their own.

What have I done wrong? I have got this kit fitted (local garage did the fitting). Gauge lights all the time and looks fine - problem is that when ending is off the gauge does not zero. It is .2bar below zero. When engine is started the gauge reads -.4bar?!? On full boost the gauge clatters (quite literally as the needle seems to vibrate massivelty) to maybe .6 or .7 bar. Car is standard UK Turbo 2000 (MY2000).
Any ideas - have they cocked the fitting up?

WRX Blues,
Test drove my car today with New Gauge and pod as my last post.
Gauge chatters at medium to high boost. This is between 1 and 1.5Bar on my 04 WRX. My car has been remapped [265Bhp] The idle boost is about -0.6Bar. This negative figure is correct as when the throttle is closed a vacuum is present in the inlet.

Changed the connection point for the Boost gauge today, from the manifold to the pipe going into the dump valve. The Gauge is working alot smoother and has lost that chatter at high boosts. Seems the pressure is more constant at this point than at the manifold. :thumb:
