Hi, I have a 5 way outside junction box running a lot of fish pond related things. There is a single mains supply running from the house to it. What I want to do is have some lights around a tree next to the pond but not have to go outside to turn them on so ideally I would hard wire the lights to the juntion box outside and control them from inside. Something like a remote control inline switch ?? I cant just switch the power on and off from inside as I want to keep all the fishy stuff running.

Forgive me if I am talking jibberish but I know what I want but may not be able to describe it very well !!

Thanks

A company called Steinel produce a switching box that can be remote controlled. They aren't the cheapest, but it's well built and designed.
You buy the switching box and remote separately, and then program the box to use that particular remote.

Here's a link. (http://www.gardenlighting.co.uk/prods_vol.asp?type=SWS)

But bear in mind that the switching box won't be waterproof, so will have to be mounted in a waterproof enclosure.

Also, what do you mean by a 5 way junction box? A junction box doesn't usually have 'Ways'.

Provided it's in a sheltered housing, X10 (http://www.letsautomate.com/index.cfm?&Nav=X10&) would do the job.

Wicks and probably similar, do plug in remote operated in-line sockets. If you've got somewhere they can be used which is weather/water proof they are ideal.

Think they were about £20 for two with remote, it's been a while since I bought mine though.
