Hi,
Seems a simple problem but turning into a pain in the posterior! Replaced the inlet valve in my downstairs loo as it was leaking (related to the thread about stopping cold air from the overflow - same cistern!) but am now having a problem sealing the connection between the copper inlet pipe and bottom entry valve.
There was a normal tap connector there previously which was also corroded to heck and had to be replaced. But no matter what I do it won't seal .... Now the problem is exacerbated by the fact that this cistern is fed from the mains (1985 house with 3 loos so this was done for the plumbers convenience!) so the pressure is higher. A normal tap connector only pushes into the valve entry by a couple of mm which doesn't seal too well so I'm looking for alternatives.
I reckon I may need to improvise but was wondering first if there was a better solution than a tap connector? I was thinking of just using a direct connection to the 15mm pipe, which can be inserted a couple of cm into the entry pipe, with some sealant around it and a brass or plastic nut to compress the plastic.
Ideas?
