I watched the Skoda team on Maerdy mountain this afternoon, one word "Fantastic". You could see them for most of thieir run, and being that bit closer than on the Stages you can really see, hear and feel through the ground, the awsome power of the cars. I never thought I'd say this but " I wish my Subaru sounded like a Skoda". :luvlove:

It sounds different because it's running a new type of antilag. (my boss used to be a test engineer for Prodrive, and he did some work on it)
His explanation was way above my comprehension:wonder: , but in layman's terms, they can run at lower revs with more boost:eek: . Producing a lower engine note as a result. (he had some engines running at tickover literally pumping the fuel into the turbo, and they ran almost like jet engines and produced a similar sound to them but they didn't last long!) all in the name of research of course.:Whatever_

(If anyone who knows what they're talking about reads this post, it's just my understanding of a very complex engineering process condensed into a couple of sentences. So be gentle with me:p .)

Yea I agree, this yrs sounds much better... But still got a soft spot for the grpA machines of the 90's. You could hear the bark, cackle and popping coming 5 mins b4 the car arrived... truly awesome sound..
As for the skodas, I was spectating on start of St gwynno some yrs ago and as they were counting down the anti lag was flicked on and fook me.... Thats a sound to relish.. Loudest bang of any WRC car.. Exept the Escort WRC of the mid 90's lol

I saw Duval's privateer Skoda being unloaded this morning at service. It was still filthy.

I think the Escort WRC are by far the loudest, and you can still see them on club events. May be we could get WRC cars to sound a bit like Andy Burtons Peugeot Cosworth

didier auriol's bozian pug 206 exhaust pop in monte carlo in 2005, was the loudest i heard, went right through me, and the pressure almost pushed me over :lol1:

Funny you should say that, I remember Mark Fishers 206 back in 2001, i think!! on rally GB at the superspecial in Cardiff Docks.. Did'nt half thump of the throttle.. feel it right through the chest lol

Oh just remembered about the Celica ST205 toooo 1994 it's 1st RAC Kankkunen at the wheel (Auriol opted for the safer proven 185 to win championship). Now that was a Firecracker show out the arse end...Marshmallows anyone pmsl
