I was planning to turn up on the day and buy a ticket for the Rheola Stage car park near to Crynant, rather than go to the bunfight at Walters Arena.

Then I read the WALES RALLY GB website which states the following:

"SINGLE STAGE ENTRY
All forest car parks will offer tickets for sale on the day, strictly subject to availability and sold on a first come first served basis.

Spectators buying on-the-day stage passes will have to use a specific car park at each of these stages".

What I'm trying to find out is, if I just turn up at the Crynant Car Park will I be allowed to park there ~ how do you find out which is the "Specific Car Park" for Rheola? ........ also, any suggestions for good spots to photograph the action from on Rheola?

I would choose the Walter Arean car park, i have done it the last few years pleanty of tickets to buy if you get there early.
You dont have to specate at the arena, a short walk to the right of the arena the is a great downhill harpin with a very quick approch, further on there is a tight junction through a gate. Seen Danial Carrlson roll his Peugeot ther 2 years ago.
To the left ther is a very quick long straight, with aparently some good bends and an open junction at the end, where i plan to have a look this year.

Thanks for that, big sw2000, I think I might take your advice and park at Walters Arena and walk to the exciting bits, that'll be no problem for me. I'd have brought my Mountain Bike, but they don't seem to like them at the rally these days. I will be arriving over the Severn Bridge and was considering driving along the M4 as far as Swansea, then travelling up the A465 ~ but I guess if I'm going to Walters Arena, I might as well turn off at Cardiff and travel up via the A470 and Merthyr Tydfil?

I would probley say your quicker drive would be towards Swansea, and take the a465 at Neath. Its about 6 maybe 10 miles to the stage car park then.
Check your pm
Let us know what car you got will keep an eye out for you.

Cheers big sw2000, I must admit my first thought was to stay on the motorway as far as Neath (watching out for Plod on the overhead bridges!) then Michelin Routefinder suggested via Merthyr ~ but I think I'll take your advice.

Although I like this site and am a big fan of the scooby's, my car is in fact an old Sambo 900, red, with a roof mounted bike rack ~ so might see you there.

Thanks Big_sw2000 great advice I was unsure that we would be able to 'walk' anywhere and would be stuck in the arena 'cow pen' as its known.
Do you suggest staying put for the two runs through or try to get to another stage?

I will be sector official on said downhill hairpin, just up from walters.
there will be "half time" entertainment in the arena if you stay for the two runs.

Great thanks - Staying for the two runs through sound the least stressful thing to do !!!

Go left for one and right for the next - good plan :)

What time would you recommend getting to the car park in the morning, its an overnighter so does that mean it will be full if we turn up at say 7am ?

being that walters arena is the only carpark allowing overnight parking on thursday night i would advise you to get there as early as possible.
i how quite a few people that are just going there for the night (party) and then driving to carpark D about 5am.

I saw on the Welsh WRC NZ program that there'll be Reliant Robins & Rialtos driving the arena section as part of the halftime entertainment.:lol1: :freak3:
That should be a laugh.

also slowly sideways groupb, and quads. the three wheeler or "tripods" are from our motorclub ecurie cymraeg who are in charge of walters and junctions either side of the arena.
any scoobynetters that make there way to the hairpin, feel free to introduce themselves to the sector offiicial(me and one other) for some upto date info regarding the half time gap.
