Scudy23 19 November 2006, 17:09 Does any one know what turbo comes from this, i take it its an STi and would the turbo fit a classic. Cheers Scud simb 2 19 November 2006, 17:14 If it's a UK should be a VF35 and yes it should fit a classic, but check in technical as i'm no expert. simb kjdmk1 19 November 2006, 17:15 VF34 I think and it should fit, i think;) kjdmk1 19 November 2006, 17:26 Searched and found this. The VF34 i think is rated to about 350bhp, it is a roller-bearing turbo and was used on the JDM STi's, STi type UK use a VF35 which are almost identical apart the bearings used. turboDean 19 November 2006, 18:46 VF34 came on the V7 STI RA, STI 8's have a VF35 which is basically a VF30 with a smaller exhaust housing giving quicker spool up but less top end. The VF30 + VF35 have thrust bearings and the VF34 is a roller bearing version of the VF30 They are all direct bolt on to classic's Hope that helps BTW i have a VF34 on my car. Scudy23 19 November 2006, 20:44 Excellent, cheers guys. Dean does yours spool up quick ? would it be a good upgrade TBH i aint got a clue with turbos,i've tried researching but it just hurts my eyes cos i got to read it so many times....lol turboDean 19 November 2006, 20:52 Excellent, cheers guys. Dean does yours spool up quick ? In 4th gear i get 1 bar of boost by about 3000rpm, probably slightly laggier than it could be because of the FMIC. VF35's are supposed to have slightly quicker spool up. Scudy23 19 November 2006, 20:56 would it be a good upgrade TBH i aint got a clue with turbos,i've tried researching but it just hurts my eyes cos i got to read it so many times....lol Yours is pushing over the 300bhp mark in it turboDean 19 November 2006, 21:13 yeap definatly a worth while upgrade, the limit of the turbo is around 330bhp, realisticaly you should get somewhere over 300bhp. It will be slightly slower spolling than your TD04 but will pull all the way through the rev range and not run out of puff at about 5500rpm like the TD04 does. Mine made 312bhp, which isn't great compared to what most people get with VF34's should get 330-350 really. Go For It :thumb: Scudy23 19 November 2006, 21:17 "Go For It" Cheers.....lol TBH i would like to own a 300 bhp car, trouble is where would you go from there. The dark side..lol turboDean 19 November 2006, 21:25 "Go For It" Cheers.....lol TBH i would like to own a 300 bhp car, trouble is where would you go from there. The dark side..lol 2.5 bottom end, Ported STI 5/6 heads, and a TD06 / Garret turbo, should make a good drivable 440bhp car. Not that i'm planning anything :norty: Scudy23 19 November 2006, 21:50 Also Dean would a ECUtek fit my car,its the early 98 if not apart from the apexi fc etc... what ecu would fit. All these ideas running around in my head and i blame Catyluna172, DAMN YOU!!! lol turboDean 19 November 2006, 23:04 No mate ECUtek remapping is for 99 on. There are lots of ECU's you can chose from Apexi FC seems to be the most popular probably becuase it's relatively cheap. There's also GEMS, MOTEC, LINK etc SIGMA ecu's seem to be getting very good reviews at the moment and there is a Group Buy running on them at the mo: http://bbs.scoobynet.com/group-buys-356/550170-sigma-ecu.html Think i might try one of these if i were in your position. Can't find the thread i was reading the other day about them but, have a read of this: http://bbs.scoobynet.com/general-technical-10/539813-fao-harvey.html?highlight=sigma+ecu pippyrips 20 November 2006, 10:15 "Go For It" Cheers.....lol TBH i would like to own a 300 bhp car, trouble is where would you go from there. The dark side..lol 400bhp will become the bar then:D Scudy23 20 November 2006, 21:44 I just got me this, with 20k on it shouldnt be to bad,if its the wrong one it'll go back up for sale eBay.co.uk: SUBARU IMPREZA VERSION 8 TURBO UNIT 2004 LIKE NEW (item 120052749976 end time 20-Nov-06 20:30:00 GMT) (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=002&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=120052749976&rd=1&rd=1) For some reason i think im creeping onto the rollercoaster....lol turboDean 20 November 2006, 21:46 Doesn't say if it's off a version 8 STI or WRX... Do you know if it's an sti turbo?? Scudy23 20 November 2006, 22:39 Whats the difference ? DannyBoy007 20 November 2006, 22:42 mmm, Well one will be a td04 which is what you already have the other will be a IHI turbo which is what you are after!!!!! strange it doesn't mention STI in any of his advert!!! you might be in luck, the other item he sold was a STI manifold turboDean 20 November 2006, 23:12 Hope it's an STI turbo mate, if it is you've had a bargin, if not then it's not bargin coz you can't give TD04's away. As Danny said he has previously sold an STI 8 Inlet Manifold and he did mention "STI" in the Ad for that either. Fingers Crossed. Scudy23 20 November 2006, 23:36 Oh crap.....lol...my luck its a td04,but thanks for the info guys been a big help. Cheers Scud P.S Danny how do you know it was a STi manifold please ? P.P.S iS it because of the red ( red top ) bluerigster 21 November 2006, 15:05 Oh crap.....lol...my luck its a td04,but thanks for the info guys been a big help. Cheers Scud P.S Danny how do you know it was a STi manifold please ? P.P.S iS it because of the red ( red top ) Not meaning wind you up scudy, but looking at the photo my guess is it's a TD04 and I've just sold a TD05 for 120 pounds. So a little pricey as well for a TD04, if it was IHI vf35 it would of fetched 300 pounds. Personally the spool up of a TD04 is best your going to find and with the right supporting mods a realistic 300 - 320 Bhp is acheivable but there will be little puf left at higher revs.:thumb: kjdmk1 21 November 2006, 16:33 I sold my TD04 for £50 thats about all you will get for one, if your going to change your turbo then I would go for a vf 34/35 or 28 all 3 have been used sucessfully loads of times and will make you 300/320 with a remap and decat. All IMO:) mervil 21 November 2006, 21:35 I bought a VF34 off here a couple of years ago, awesome turbo, reduced the lag on my MY00 UK Turbo and was very quick with it. I paid £550 and it was brand new then. :D Go for it :thumb: Scudy23 21 November 2006, 22:44 I spoke to the guy today and he said it came of a STi,but now im confused is there any way from the picture that you can tell what turbo it is ? He reckons it came of the same car as the inlet manifold he sold. scoobygez 21 November 2006, 22:50 ask him for the numbers off the side of it!!! turboDean 21 November 2006, 23:25 You need a pic from a different angle to see the stamping, Should have IHI on the housing, like this: http://www.zandengrond.nl/VF-35%20Turbo.jpg Can't really tell anything from the pic he put in the ad, but if it came off the same car as the manifold chances are it is a VF35 and you've had a real bargin. Scudy23 21 November 2006, 23:52 ask him for the numbers off the side of it!!! Have done tonight only problem being is that i won this on ebay so it all that legally binding contract crap. Honestly if i fell in roses i'd come out smelling of shwit. :( :lol1: kjdmk1 22 November 2006, 00:03 It will be a nervous day unpacking pandoras box when its delivered:lol1: Scudy23 22 November 2006, 00:09 It will be a nervous day unpacking pandoras box when its delivered:lol1: :lol1: Tell me about it. Dean the picture you posted i noticed with the acuator the pipe comes out from the centre which is the same as the picture on the ebay listing but with pictures of the TD04 its comes out of the side of the acuator not the centre. ????????????? Will check the one on my car now. Scudy23 22 November 2006, 00:23 Just checked mine now and the pipe comes from the side. |
