Just fitted new Hu ( Alpine) but the radio reception is poor along with interferance from wipers etc.
Phoned up the supplier I was told that it was due to the poor quality ariel already fitted in my Scooby and to upgrade it.
The problem I have is that my current areil is fitted inside the rear roof support and I was told to fit a surface mounted areil on the outside of the car, this would mean drilling a whole, which is not ideal.
Anybody else had this problem are there any ways around it, seems a bit daft forking out £140 notes for a new HU only to be scupperd by a poor areil, or am I just been led up the garden path.:wonder: :wonder:

from what i understand and i could be wrong, you may need a 12v supply for a booster. Some of the others on here have mentioned it previously.

Only a guess mate

What model is your car?????

Make sure your wiring adaptor connects the blue wire - this provides power to the little black box of tricks under the parcel shelf.

Had an Alpine 9812 and components professionally fitted on Tues. Was only charged for the Subaru ISO block on top of the fitting. 12v feed run from the battery - no mention of weak ariels and the reception is perfect. MY53 STi.

Bad earth maybe? I do know that the ariel is powered but assume that was taken care of when the fitting was done on mine.
