Bloody crap! Half an hour of highlights per day is damn poor from BBC2, they have about an hour of ****ing indoor rowing on instead! Sort the priorities boys, a Brit could win a world event here!

my thoughts exactlyimages/smilies/mad.gif

It stinks, it really does, motorsport coverage is utter sh**e

I can't believe it, a world event with the possibility (ok not any more:( ) of two brits winning and you get half an hour at midnight.

It's not just Rallying though, Carl Fogharty, 4 times world champ, Dougie Lampkin, I've lost count how many world titles he has, at least 4 though, put em on Question of Sport and all you'd hear would be " who are they?"

I really don't know hoe peole can get excited about Football etc, every week  I would of loved the footballers to have gone on strike, the country would gring to a halt!

Sorry, rant ove :o

But guys, next year the rally's will be covered at "peak viewing" times during the weekend. There is a new deal and Channel 4 will be doing it justice. :D

It's all part of Dave Richard's plan for WRC to become a mainstream sport. They are planning on making the drivers celbs in their own right, they are talking about some live coverage and lots of real time stuff on their website too.

It's all in the Rally supplement that comes with this months Car magazine. Next year's gonna rock :D:D:D

Im lucky eneough to get British Eurosport as well, and they have a couple of shows on. Intereseting eneough they use the same stage graphics and often the same film for interviews. However, BES do tend to go into more detail that BBC. i.e. Tommy hit the arnco 4 times in the Super Special at the start of the rally, which lost him 4 secs at least. They didnt even mention that on BBC. Lots of detail stuff.

I remember the good old days when the Beeb used to televise the Mickey Mouse stages live, and the odd couple of runs though a forest. Not the guts of the rally, true, but at least it was something! This 30 minutes of "rally" coverage probably boils down to about 5 minutes of actual car shots, that is if you take out all the beautiful shots of helicopters and blinding headlamps.

Hey let's not forget the shots of hilltop that's had all the trees cut down and then some guy using a video camera:rolleyes: I haven't even seen the token fit bird yet:eek:

Why does football get a mention every day,it doesn't even have to be the football season ffsimages/smilies/mad.gif Then you get an hour before the game, the first half, scores at half time, the second half, scores at full time and then another hour watching the goals....it stinksimages/smilies/mad.gifimages/smilies/mad.gif

Could we not write to somebody, do a petition or summat? Surely there's enough people who'd watch motorsport, ie not just rallying? I heard there were 3/4 of a milion people attending the first day of the rally, so they're all gonna watch just to see if they can spot themselves, then you've got everyone else who couldn't be arsed trudging round wales..what4..5 milion? It's gotta be more popular than crown green bowls???

I agree about the indoor rowing being sh*t. I actually thought it was a joke. Next week we'll be getting the London Marathon (on a large treadmill at Earls Court) and the Tour de France, live from a row of exercise bikes under the Eiffel Tower. It makes TV coverage so much easier.

However, this year's biggest Rally cock-up award goes to Railtrack, who put leaflets in their trains this week, explaining that their engineering work in South Wales was arranged before the rescheduling of the rugby match (which affects up to 80,000 people) and therefore wasn't their fault. Of course, they had forgotten about the 200,000 going to the rally. For info there are no trains whatsoever between Cardiff and Swansea today.

The BBC have just surpassed themselves in their coverage of the victory. Less than 5 minutes coverage on BBC Grandstand, with no action footage and a very poor interview with Richard Burns. So what was so urgent that we couldn't have more? We had to go to the warm up for the Wales / Australia Rugby match that doesn't start for another hour!

Good job that they loose the contract for next year. About time they lost thier licence fee too. :D

BBC coverage this afternoon was disgusting. Interview with Burns was a joke. Just hope next years on Ch4 will be better.

Why do the BBC etc think the only sport that exists is bloody football.Unless you live in Wales of course where they think its rugby.

I suppose it must be because both sports are so simple to understand for all the couch potatoes that sit and watch them.

As I said in the other thread- sour grapes on BBC's behalf becasue they hve lost the coverage to C4 next year. This year BBC's coverage has been the poorest for years- where was the 6.30ish programme and the live stage coverage on the Sunday??

All this in the year that two BRITISH drivers were competing for a world title:(:(:(

Its all down to money I guess.
Cheaper to plonk a camera down at a football or rugby match than follow a rally.

Lets hope Channel4 can give us some detailed coverage next year !

Right...gotta go...just seen that BBC is showing 7 hours of some live indoor sleeping championship ;)
Oh, just found out I need to sit though 10 hours of football first :(
