View Full Version : Fitting that Momo gear knob...

Hi,

Tomorrow I plan to purchase the Momo gear knob and fit it on my my99 scoob.

Now I know that you have to keep twisting the stick until the whole thing comes out - do I just yank the stick out of the gaiter? Is the stick glued to the gaiter?

How do I get the old gear knob off? Does that twist off or do I have to hacksaw it off?

When reattaching the gear stick, can it be super-glued to the gaiter (assuming that it has to be stuck)?

Cheers

what, the knob just screws off? So no need to take the whole stick out? I had a look and the gaiter seems to be 'stuck' to the knob!

Believe it or not, I put a guide (http://www.chiark.com/scooby/mod_knob.asp) together

The gaiter is elasticated and just slips over the bottom of yer knob once you pull it off. Erm.

Nick,

Cheers for that....

When I twist the gearstick, is it the knob thats coming off, or the whole shaft? I didn't go the whole way cos I'm at work and didn't want to have troubles if the entire shaft came off and I was unable to put it back on...

PS - LIMP is awesome - I would consider a wireless NIC and a small screen.

Just the knob that comes off and the gaiter pops off coz it just clips on the bottom of the knob. The shaft stays firmly in place so its easy :D :P

(How dodgy is this all starting to sound ;)) lol.

akshay67 - Screen is almost sorted. I've blagged a Japanese only unit and just need a PCI graphics card with NTSC-J video out now  . I'm waiting for wireless to drop in price to 50 quid a card...

As said, it's just the end bit that comes off, not the whole shaft.
