Hi all, I'm a total amature in photography but love it!!
I want to know how I get white lights instead of yellow/orange when taking night photos...?
I use a Canon EOS 300-D

Thats the light source!! Sodium lights do give orange light.
You could try changing the white balance on the camera and go through trial and error (but will effect the colour of the car).
Or
Mess around with the colours in photoshop.
Or there is an other couple of options
Live with it
Use different lights!,

That aside, there are some damn nice photos in there though :thumb:

Cheers Simon, I'm a web designer by trade so Photoshop isn't a problem for me, just wondered if there was some setting on the camera I can play with.
I'll try the white balance and see what happens, other than that, I'll find some white bulbs! :)
Cheers, for the advice!

Switch it to RAW  and use the processing software (DPP/Adobe Camera Raw plug-in or RawShooter) to manually adjust the colour balance. Sodium is about 1900-2100 degreees Kelvin IIRC

Shoot Raw and use Photoshop is the way to go since you have Photoshop :)
Can't you set the white balance manually? Handbook should advise, but if these are the common yellow sodium street lights - though they don't look quite like it to me - you will never get good colour.
Sodium lights do not emit a full colour spectrum, ie there is no green/blue output at all so no amount of colour temperature twidddling or photoshopping will bring out the colour as it simply doesn't exist.

Yes they are normal boring street lights, I'll find a new venue and have a play with the settings etc...
Thanks again! :thumb:
