New to this forum so apologies if daft question.
I am looking for Canon 70-200 F2.8 L and 17-40L, however cannot really afford new prices. Other than Ebay, where these do not seem to ever appear second hand is there any other sites or retailers that specialise in second hand.
Thanks

A company close to me in Paington do have quite a bit of secondhand L series in stock on and off.
Although they aren't massively cheaper than new, maybe £100-150 depending on the condition.
I have bought a 17-40 L, 50f1.8 MKI and a *2 teleconverter from them and they were all in mint condition.
Secondhand L series in good or mint condition tend to keep its value.
Mifsuds.com, PX Welcome, PX Welcome, PX Welcome, PX Welcome, PX Welcome (http://www.mifsuds.com)
Failing that some london camera exchanges have them in now and again, but as per Mifsuds don't expect massive savings on new.
Hope that helps,
Cheers,
Grahame.

Thanks for that Graham. I will keep an eye on the site. Probably end up buying new, however very difficult to justify as a hobby purchase.

Thanks Pumpkin,
I registered on that Forum a couple of weeks ago after seeing a link from the Photography Forum.

might be worth looking here also EOS-classifieds - buy and sell Canon EOS equipment here (http://www.eos-classifieds.com/index.php?)

That's strange, I've bought all 3 of my L series lenses on eBay, including a second hand 17-40 L and a second hand 100-400 L IS :) Make sure you search both the Digital and Film lens sections :thumb:

Personally I've had nothing but bad experiences buying lenses secondhand - but if you're sure you want to try your luck, the definitive list of s/h camera shops is UK Camera (http://www.ukcamera.com/usedcams/index.htm).

For the cheapest new prices check here (http://www.camerapricebuster.co.uk/cat5.html)
Don't forget if you do buy new they always seem to sell very easily on eBay and for not much less than you paid for them (providing you got a good deal in the first place )so look at them as an investment .... that's my excuse anyway ;)
