View Full Version : NEC this year? hutton_d 26 October 2006, 11:58 Anyone going? Decided I'm going next Friday (3rd). Dave r32 26 October 2006, 12:08 Dont think I'll bother this year, its gets more expensive and smaller each year. Sbradley 26 October 2006, 13:06 Nope. Can't justify taking the time out myself, though I've got a couple of other people going to provide some coverage. Was hugely disappointed last year, and this year doesn't look like it'll be any better. I hope to be proved wrong, of course... SB Scott W 26 October 2006, 13:18 I've not gone for a few years as it just doesn't appeal. Both of my brothers will be working there everyday so I feel for them. I tend to just go to Ally Pally each year as my brothers can get us in there free of charge and it's not that far away from where I live. 7 Foot 26 October 2006, 14:45 I'm going up on 1st. Heading up by train so I can have a few beers then spend money I don't have on leathers. hutton_d 26 October 2006, 15:52 I always go by car. That way *if* by chance I did buy something large then I can carry it home .... TBH I probably wouldn't hav egone as I agree with most of the negative type comments above but I missed Ally Pally at the start of the year and just missed Stafford so I need a good bike show this year ... Plus it gets me out of work for the day! And uses one of my remaining 10 days hols. this year .... Dave 7 Foot 26 October 2006, 20:45 Why's everyone poo pooing it? I only got into bikes last year and I really enjoyed the show. Saved £150 on an Arai Corsair too. What was it like in the good old days? Was all round nowt but fields? r32 27 October 2006, 07:02 Why's everyone poo pooing it? I only got into bikes last year and I really enjoyed the show. Saved £150 on an Arai Corsair too. What was it like in the good old days? Was all round nowt but fields? It was bigger, cheaper and better (in the old days) there are far less stalls selling stuff as most charges have rocketed but the bargains are just not that common. If you want to save pounds then go to the BMF in May. andrewdelvard 27 October 2006, 08:21 Going on the 31st, really looking forward to it. r32 27 October 2006, 12:27 Then when you've been to the NEC pop into the city and visit Legs 11. Jza 31 October 2006, 17:23 Went last Friday - great stuff as usual..... bargains galore on the kit. mikeswrx02 01 November 2006, 01:22 I went on monday, not too many people. Few nice babes. Get there early if u want the ride outs and especially yamy supermotos. Kawasaki girls are the best - fit and nice looking! I got a pic taken with them too, even tho i went on my own! hehehe 3times 01 November 2006, 11:00 I've not gone for a few years as it just doesn't appeal. Normally go to Ally Pally but thats changing to Excel - hope it a better effort than what was at Excel before. Superbike Magazine are still running a show at Ally Pally - does anyone know if it's simply a change of 'names'. Ally Pally used to be really interesting when it was the Road Race & Superbike show - it was less commercial than what the NEC is, could meet riders & see alot of interesting unusual machinery rather than just standard bikes. hutton_d 03 November 2006, 20:30 Well I went but it wasn't too exciting this year. Stands seemed to think it hadn't been too busy this week. Could even get to sit on the latest bikes without a fight . Dave Scoobedoo 03 November 2006, 21:31 just been today. most of the other bike manufacturers are not there (Ducati Aprilia etc) which disappoints me. best bike on show (I thought) was the new R1 on their rotating stand in red/white - nice. I think it's gone gradually downhill in the last couple of years. Even the chicks look a bit tacky and they still increase the price each year. In fact one reason I go it to see the totty:norty: graham22 06 November 2006, 11:28 Dissapointed with show compared to previous years - not much 'interesting' stuff, mainly bikes & products you can see at good dealers, £15 entry £7 parking and £60 diesel makes it an expensive day for little savings (did buy a pair of boots!). Can anyone throw light on the 2 shows in London - would like to think the Superbike Show will be interesting. Leslie 08 November 2006, 11:25 Kawasakis always had a more comfortable riding position! Les :D Sbradley 08 November 2006, 12:09 ... Even the chicks look a bit tacky and they still increase the price each year. Mate, a girl's gotta make a living, and what with rent increases, paying tax and supporting her crack habit you've got to expcet the odd price rise... Ah. That's not what you meant, is it? SB speed demoness 09 November 2006, 09:40 why don't you guys try the Scottish bike show in Ingliston near Edinburgh next March! thats usually a canny day out, and compared to the first time I went ( 2003) this years show seemed a lot bigger! The NEC show just tends to be a right rip off now... costs a bloody fortune just to park your car! MCN Show (http://www.scottishmotorcycleshow.com/visitors/2006_photography.asp) |
