Guys,

I want to test some walls at home for any signs of damp. I've been looking around for a device that will enable me to do this and was wondering whether anybody on here has bought / used one themselves and where they got it from :)

I've found the following on Screwfix's website....

Damp Detector - Screwfix Direct, Everything for the Trade, Next Day! (http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.jsp?id=41970&ts=87626#)

Any good / bad reviews of it? Also any comments on how reliable these devices are?

Cheers

Andy

i borrowed a protimeter off a mates dad whos a surveyour, you just put the 2 prongs onto your wall and you get a reading in lights, red amber and green easy and quick to use!!

that draper thingy is the same idea as a protimeter. compare professional protimeter prices with the screwfix one and you'll have your answer -
The Complete Range of Protimeter Digital Damp / Moisture Meters (http://www.surveyexpress.co.uk/moisturemeter_frame.htm)
having said that, you may find that the draper one does all you need so why spend more?....

Thanks for the replies guys :thumb:

At £13 I think I'll get one and see what it has to say altho as Richard has pointed out.... there's a hell of a price difference between that and what the professionals use :D

I've got the draper and as a basic damp meter it works fine.
