Jim Redmans ex-works 250 4 sold for 328,000 pounds at Bonhams auction at Stafford yesterday. It was bough by some one in the hall, dont know who that was yet. I thought it would fetch more as Honda were supposed to want it for their collection.
Met Jim seemed a nice guy, but he's aged since I last saw him in the 60's. I suppose we all have.

And there was me thinking that if my lottery win had come up I'd go to 1/2M on it .... :D

What was the weather like? I'd hard it was going to be piddling down so stayed at home.

The whole show was packed, more people than I've ever seen before, thankfully the rain held off until later in the afternoon (when it really pis@ed it down), so it was a bit of a wet dash to the car (glad I didnt go on the bike). But good show, lots of people asking crazy money for what was in some cases tat or junk.....

Honda have got a few ex-champ bikes, including a couple of Redman's, I think. Had a chance to closely inspect the Beaulieu Hailwood 250-4 and it's TINY. Makes a big racket tho :D

Looks like the bike didnt sell after all, the 328 thou didnt come close enough to Redmans 375,000 reserve. He is now doscussing prices with the highest bidder.

Jim Redman is an all round nice guy... he was at the Thundersprint in Heaton Park in Manchester about 4 years ago.... just wandering through the crowds and stopping and chatting to whoever wanted to talk to him !
