I've been offered a set of new AST Sportline II coilovers, at a VERY tempting price. How do they withstand 3-4 months in humid conditions, being constantly wet and subjected to road salt?

My intention was to buy a set of stainless steel coilovers, KW Stage 3 - but I find it hard to justify the big price difference. If the AST coilovers, however, look like a pile of scrap metal after the winter season, the difference IS justifiable ;)

Hurry!
-I'll blame you Scoobynet guys if the ASTs are sold to someone else while I'm waiting for replies! ;)

can't answer the corrosion question as i've only had my AST's for 1 day but they have made a hell of a difference to the handling!

My first set of AST's were on the road (3000 miles) in all weathers except deep winter (salty roads)
I cleaned then 2 times in that period and there was NO corrosion.

My second set are the £2000 AST 3 ways, and they are exactly the same.

Even stainless steel will 'mark' and corrode badly if the wrong grade, and St Steel is very heavy too.

AST's?

Why why are you waiting?

Get on with it!

My ohlins recommend a squirt of oil every time the car is cleaned to keep the seals up to scratch. A long tube on a spray WD40 can does it a treat.

Agree. Clean my AST's with water/car shampoo first, dry and then wd40 all over for the final finish especially the piston shaft. Also clean all the grit from the adjustable spring pad ring.
