View Full Version : SMACS NOVEMBER MEETING
cw42 16 October 2006, 18:49 WHEN: THURSDAY 2ND NOVEMBER
WHERE: UNICORN INN, DEAN ROW, WILMSLOW, SK92LN.
TIME: FROM 19:30
(In the style of Alan C)
Who'd of known, a year ago, at about this time of year, I was about to throw the towel in! The SMACS had gone from a large group of like minded friends, going out on regular weekday and weekend drives, to 1 or 5 of us at most. The website was desperate for an update, the forum had been stopped, and you barely saw us on scoobynet :( A very sorry state we were in.
Now, just 1 year later, we have 80+ members, some brilliant new mates, some great organisers and some fantastic cars! And more keep coming!
If the growth of the club continues into next year and beyond, the LADS are going to have to watch out, as we'll easily be the biggest club in the area. However, that is not what I want. What I want is to be the friendliest club in the area, the most accessable, the most helpful, but most of all, the most respected. And it's only with our members continued commitment that we can do that.
I want to thank all of you that have done something for the club this year, and helped in it's growth. From Andy and Dai who've helped me keep the dream alive, to Mike and Darren who've provided all thier services for free, to all the new members who've organised stuff, and all of you that have been on that organised stuff too. A big thankyou to you all.
Here's to 2007, and what I think will truly be "the year of the SMACS" :D
See you all in November, and at the xmas do on the 10th December :)

Beefy 16 October 2006, 22:01 This is the day after we "go live" (hopefully) with SAP in our dutch office, so surprise, surprise I will be over there again. :(
However, if all goes well I might be able to make the December meet though so heres hoping!! :)
Martin-STI 16 October 2006, 22:32 What does SAP actually mean? Only my mate is trained in it and works freelance and earns £450 per day.......................
Anyway I would like to say that I have had a great first year of SMACS and Subaru ownership (just been exspensive, partly own fault due to being a crap driver)

Who'd of known, a year ago, at about this time of year, I was 3 months into my new marriage and about to throw the towel in! My life had gone from a large group of like minded friends, going out on regular weekday and weekend drinks, to me and the wife at most. The wardrobe was desperate for an update, the flirting had been stopped, and you barely saw us at the local quiz night :( A very sorry state i was in.
Now, just 1 year later, I have 80+ new friends, some brilliant new mates, some great organisers and some fantastic cars! And more keep coming!
If the growth of my new community continues into next year and beyond, the LADS are going to have to watch out, as we'll easily be the biggest club in the area, and the hardest ! have you seen pete if you dont buy a footy card:mad: However, that is not what I want. What I want is to be the friendliest club in the area( keep pete happy you keep us all happy:) ), the most accessable( still not willing to have meets under the trafford centre though:nono: ), the most helpful, but most of all, the most respected. And it's only with our members continued commitment that we can do that.
I want to thank my wife for letting me take that loan out to buy my first scooby:notworthy also the man on SN who sold me my prodrive backbox(my first mod:luvlove: ) Also a big thankyou to pete and all the staff at prosport for all there knowledge and fantastic workmanship:thumb: . All of you that have done something to push adam and jenni together as well, and helped us take a step closer to the first smacs wedding. Also thanks Andy for providing the SMACS T-shirts. To all the new members who've organised stuff, and all of you that have been on that organised stuff too. A big thankyou to you all.
If it wasnt for you lot i would be sitting at home all the time making small talk with the wife , where as now i ignore her for hours each night whilst talking to you all on scoobynet and amita. I truly have feelings for you all be them good or bad and i look forward to the 1st thursday of every month. Thankyou for giving me a purpose :D
:)

It'll be one year on November 9th since I bought my Classic. Easily the best car I've owned so far. :notworthy
And regarding the guys and girls of SMACS I've met since joining in March, I've never met such an awesome group of people. I have such a laugh, whether it be standing around in a damp and windy Unicorn car park or blasting round the North West's roads, it's still fun! Even when driving showed it's darker side (i.e accidents), we've stuck together to help each other out and to me, that's what SMACS is all about...........
Sorry, got a bit carried away!! :)

Beefy 17 October 2006, 17:43 What does SAP actually mean? Only my mate is trained in it and works freelance and earns £450 per day.......................
What does "SAP" stand for?
SAP stands for "systems, applications and products in data processing".
Its basically a software package that combines everything a business needs from purchasing to accounts. There are a variety of different types from full blown SAP (used by big multi-national companies), to SAP Business One which is aimed at smaller businesses (and is the one I work with).

Martin-STI 17 October 2006, 18:46 Cheers Beefy.
He was in Belguim the other year, implementing SAP. Seems most of the time like a way of getting rid of staff, due to time and motion. Cut out certain peoples jobs ???
Working for some Water Co at present, he was doing Transco last year.
Nice work if you can get it.
BTT.
