I think the SVX 450/550 look like a serious bit of kit but bearing in mind they are pure competition machines you'll be looking at high maintenance.

If you're thinking of a single, what about the KTM 640 Supermoto, I had one as a loan bike recently & great fun - still quite hard-core compared to sat a DRZ400SM but not as radical as some. I think the 640 is being rplaced by a 690 next year so might be a good chance to pick up a bargain - the model I borrowed was a Prestige with black graphics, black rims, White Power suspension as standard, looked well cool, very european.

i was thinking about getting a Wr450 or CRf 450 crosser and making one out of one of them, i looked at the KTM's but kerb weight seems to be quite a lot higher, A quad is another option i think, loads on the roads out here in Germany, saw a raptor the other day and i thought that was cool as chips

yea i was looking at the ktm's and the kernb weight put me off also and was waiting for the release of the new ktm 690 i seen pictures of it and thought what have they done???? i didnt like it one bit and alot of other ppl seem to think they have made a big mistake!!!
it looks like they designed the bike and then forgot about the exhaust it looks terrible!!!
dry weight for the beemer is 147kg and DIN unladen weight with 90% tank filling is 159kg depending on the exact model as they do a scrambler and another one as well 3 bikes all in.
its worth noting when comparing weights on other bikes to see if its dry or DIN weight being specified.
the bm supermoto can be seen in this months bike mag.
i think the new ktm 690 is actually a 654 cc which is the same as the 660smc and weighs 150kg. with no fuel.
so its really still the same power to weight what a shame.
all info gathered from Supermoto Junkie - Powered by vBulletin (http://www.supermotojunkie.com)
maybe best to wait again!!! until they bring out yhe equivalent 660smc or 625 smc for the new models.
