:eek: Just as the wifey expected, we got not alot of brakes left, there is a grinding sound everytime we brake, no I cant quite afford a breaks upgrade right now so new pads are called for, but which ones, do you replace front and back, do you also change the break fluid and last but not least do you take them to a decent garage (one well known as a scooby garage, not CVC) or do you do them yourself, any help would be most welcome.

This had to happen on a bl**dy sunday, where you cannot get anybody on the phone so you can price up break pads, so I have had a crappy weekend so far, first no transmission oil :eek: and now no breaks, well very little of them, Ive got a good mind to take it back to where I bought it and give them what for, and its just flew an MOT, Ah the joys of motoring, well still loving the scoob despite these little hicups, Im just frustrated she wasnt really cared for.:mad:

Brakes and fluid should have been checked as part of any sale from a garage, I would go back and have a chat and see what they say.

normally front pads would be to blame,check the condition of the discs.chances are that if your pads are that bad,your discs will be scored.the pads are easy to change,two pins and a vibration clip,one or two screws for the discs.pads are about £28.i use APEC,not the best but they do stop me!!!:thumb:

cheers for that, there does'nt seem to be any scoring on the disc's going to change them asap
do you need to bleed them after changing discs.

There's normally wear indicators (small metal tag) on the pads so you get the grinding noise before the pads have actually worn out.
What ever you do don't put EBC pads on there ****.

You should be able to push the cylinders back and fit the new pads as described above, very simple to do, no need to bleed the system unless you break into it.

you can bend them back a little to stop the grinding just remember to get them changed, unlike me and ended up with this:

I've never Used EBC so can't comment, but I used to use Black Diamond in my Four pots and found this to be a good compromise on pad ware and performance (better than subaru pads), cost about £45 a set, you can buy direct from Black diamond cutting out the middle man, I used to buy two sets to save on postage.

Sweet, thanks for the replies, well I did take it back to where I bought it from and gave them what for, so they arranged for it to go into BETS, next door to them, and the breaks were fine it was a major build up of break dust, they were like glass, really shiney, so they guy scraped the dust off and popped them back on job done. Apparently they are very dusty break pads, so Im quiet releaved at the moment but I will be looking to change them within the next month or two, and of course I stayed there and watched his every move so now I know how to change them myself and save a bit of cash :D

Cheers mate, the wifey wants his aston for the tesco run :D , they didnt end up changing the pads they cleaned them still quiet abit of wear in them.
