We've got this glow-worm combi, and the hot water part is causing problems.

It all started a couple of years ago; we needed a new pump, so good old british gas annual maintenance bloke turns up and fits one.

He then tells the wife that the boiler's wired wrong but he'll wire it properly.....

We used to have hot water pretty much on demand- the timer's set to 'once' so in theory its fired up from 7am until 10pm. Since the 'adjustments' all we appear to have is wgahat's in the hot water tank- if its all used in the morning then we don't get any until the next day unless we use the immersion.

Any thoughts?

Had similar problem with my combi boiler although it was of a different make. 1st british gas bloke definately had no idea and replaced a pump (sounding familiar). Needless to say problem persists. Ended up having a play with it myself - most of these on demand boilers have simple circuits with error code reporting that you can look up in the manual. Problem with mine was with the temp sensors which apparently is a common problem in any hard water area - once they were replaced all back to normal. Hope this helps in some way...

I don't quite understand what you mean here mate?

You say you have a Glowworm "Combi", but then say you put the immersion heater on when you have no hot water? What's the model of your boiler?

This sounds to me that you don't have a combi, but a system/conventional boiler and a DHW cylinder?

It sound's like a control problem or maybe a 3 port valve problem? Maybe the BG man wired the controls wrong? Very hard to dignose without more details...

It says 'glowworm energysaver 70' on it, but have to admit I'm totally fcuking useless with most things like that.... is it not a combi then? I always understood that it was.

OK, the boiler you have is a "Condensing" boiler, not a "Combi" (Combination) boiler. ;)

What did the BG guy do? Did he do all his work at the boiler or in other places in the house (i.e. where the cylinder is)? I can't really see how the wiring could be got wrong on this type of boiler, but I suppose it could happen. :Whatever_

You say you are getting hot water in the mornings and not in the afternoon? This just sounds to me like the timer is set wrong? What timer/controller do you have? I take it you will have a twin channel controller (one side for heating and one side for hot water and says... on, once, twice, off)?

If you let me know the make and model (danfoss/honeywell) I might be able to help you iron out the easy bits.... :thumb:
