Just fitted a letterbox to a upvc door last night (door didnt have one as we used a postbox). I have got it fitted okay, but I am wondering where the front plate fits against the door, should I use some kind of sealant to prevent any kind of moisture getting inbetween the plate and door?

(there are no visible gaps btw but I imagine moisture could possible get through)

Best bet? Draw round it lightly in pencil. Remove it. Squeeze a bead of clear silicone around on the pencil line. replace it, bed it in the silicone, and tighten, wipe off excess silicone.

what alcazar said all letter plates should be bedded on sealant then you will never get a problem.
