To be honest without any modifications you aren't going to see much (if anything) in the way of a power increase from just a remap.

That aint true to be honest but your exhaust is very restrictive, get a full decat or a sports decatted downpipe and centre section and if you want to look standard i think Hayward and Scott and magnex do standard (ish) looking backboxes. To keep it cheap have a look on ebay and on Scoobynet for secondhand parts (thats what i did)

If you dont mind the drive you could always visit Andy Forrest who is very well respected in these circles. i had mine mapped and it made a huge difference.

Your car will run safer too.:)

i've just noticed that its a 2006 STi so there will be warrenty issues. why dont you get it PPP'd and retain your warrenty.

Although not the closest, both Bob Rawle (Swindon) and Andy Forrest (Edinburgh) come highly recommended.

After all, why spend a fortune on a car and then skimp on the mapping.

Gains are there to be had from a remap alone, but greater benifits can be seen with the right supporting modifications.

will the ppp make alot of difference like?
i was tempted to get the ppp fitted... if i got this done would a remap give it more bhp?
as you can see im new to all this:wonder:

Well you shoudl see just over 300 bhp with a PPP. a guy in our club has his PPP'd and trust me its quick enough. only after what i've read on here there is a huge difference between the 260bhp standard STi and the PPP and not just the power, the torque and delivery totally change.

I'd say get the PPP which i think runs a different map anyway (i think):wonder: and at a later date get it down to WRC Tech or Powerstation.

also consider your suspension, i consider this to be more important than any power increase.

I think I was correct in saying that you won't see much of an improvement if any from just a remap to be honest. The only increase I can think of would be if it was mapped to utilise the higher octane fuels, such as V-Max & Tesco or the use of an Octane booster.

PPP is a good choice but obviously that isn't just a straight remap to get 40+ BHP is it. You have the associated bits to go with it http://www.prodrive.com/up/06MY%20STi%20PPP.pdf

I would imagine the silencer wont help that much - to get really good gains you'd need a sports or decatted exhaust. the fuel pump is more of a safety device to be honest. i'd say the biggest gain is in the remap itself.

when i tuned mine up i felt a slight difference with a decat exhaust. ok i had other supporting mods but more for the safety aspect. However when mine was remapped the difference was astounding - i felt such a difference.

Dont bother mate - it wont give you 20bhp although not sure about 06 models but with the older classics it can screw up your maf sensor

Justin my old friend how are you? I wanted to ask a wise man a question about filters but you,ll do:lol1: will a STI panel filter make much difference to my scoob or would another make be better? or should i just not bother changin it?

Not bad me old mukka :D - the blitz I had sounded the dogs but killed the MAF - I asked pete at PS on his veiw as my original filter needed changing for my service anyway. He said the STI filter will help the car breath better - but be warned its not cheep  - does sound a bit better IMO no idea if It gives you any extra BHP - maybe 1 or 2

I think induction kits are only worth while if your pushing high BHP like 300 or over IMO

did you get your boost sorted? :wonder:

(flame suit on)

"well my filter gave me 45 BHP its well good" :Whatever_

My boost just sorted itself mate !!!! i still think it was just a bit of crap in the solenoid , ive got a spare one now though so if it happens again i can just swap an see if it sorts it straight away. I,ve got a up-pipe sittin here ready to go on but i,ve been qouted a lot of ££££££££,s to get it fitted so i need to start savin and stop buyin silly things like the gas strutts i,ve just bought for my bonnet:lol1: . Have you cleaned your car since you got back from the ring or are you keepin hold of the ring dirt for as long as poss?

Revolution have done some back to back dyno testing with a k&n typhoon induction kit i think it is, 16BHP gain over an uprated panel filter IIRC. On their, (Glenn's), MY06.

Not sure if someone has mentioned this to you but if the car is only 2 weeks old, you might need to run in it and then also after about 5000 miles open up the car a bit, this should keep the engine safe from further problems in the future,
speak to Harvey smith he is based in the Durham area and is good for advice or send him a pm on here, thanks
