Recently had an extension. With downstairs now complete (big kitchen, dowstairs loo and detatched garage) now thinking about upstairs in more detail.
We've enlarged an existing bedroom and allowed space for an ensuite @ 2.5m x 2m which is quite generous compared to some ;).
I was all set for purchasing a double walk-in shower cubicle measuring 1400x900 with tray. I discussed this with the tiler and he suggested to do away with that and build a wet room.
Now I know there's a few options here. do I:-
a. go for the wet room and allow water to splash all over the place.
b. as above but with a partition to contain some of the water.
c. go the traditional shower cubicle route.

Any thoughts and advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Nick

I had the same choice last year and went for the double walk in shower option. Wet room is very nice but look what in your bathroom now and decide whether its ok for it all to get soaked or where else things could be stored ie linen basket, towels etc.

can turn it into a wet rom and have a slight step in the floor cover by tiles (aka shower area higher, then rest have a slight void below it to take water away), so one side is still wet room but has a drainage system below to keep it drier, use a removable pannel type stooled flooring system to alow lifting and cleaing of drainways. doen right you can do it and it will look the same.

I've just done mine as a wet room, got a 1400mm wide glass partition to stop water splashing everywhere, so the shower space is the same as the cubicle you were thinking of, it's just got no door.

I'm really pleased with it, looks so much better than a cubicle and even with the glass partition, it makes the room look so much bigger.
