Fed up of using crappy soldering irons. I'd like something with a bit moore oomph and decent temperature control. What should I be looking for? There seems to be plenty on ebay - difficult to choose!

You don't need 150W irons to solder electronics. Equally, you can't use a 15W iron to solder an etched brass 7mm scale kit. Are you also aware of the diffent temperature solders, starting at 70 degrees celsius, and rising to over 200 degrees? And the range of fluxes? http://www.finescale.org.uk/show_page.php?pid=101 And have you looked at resistance soldering? Alcazar |
