Hi folks, as above i am having problems with my camera and i`m hoping someone here can give advice on where best to get it sorted if it can be, it is a canon powershot a75 and when i switch it on the display reads " memory card error " when i remove the memory card it doesn`t power up at all, it is the original memory card that came with the camera, someone has already suggested that it may need a " cf unit replacing " but even this was too elaborate for me, all i would like to know is if there are any camera repair shops, if there is such a thing possibly around the glasgow area that can tell me in plain english whether it is fooked or not.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks in advance:)

The 'CF' is short for Compact Flash and is the type of Memory Card used in the a75.

Hopefully it's just that that is at fault, if you take it into any camera shop they should be able to try a new memory card for you, which you can then buy.

Can you get into the menu? You could try formating the card, this worked on Sal's Fuji once...

I had a similar problem with an Ixus 400 - the solution was to take the cover off and remove a button battery inside for a few mins to force it to re-set its internal date.

have a hunt on google to see if the powershot 75 has a similar solution. only took me 10 mins with a small screwdriver :)
