View Full Version : What is the Difference between Toads C5 and 606? MazingerZ 01 October 2006, 21:57 as above, alarm gurus shed some light please! MikeyN 02 October 2006, 10:27 as above, alarm gurus shed some light please! Toad C5T2 & AI606 They are both Thatcham Cat 1 Security Systems. The C5 has a two button radio key, the AI606 has a 4 button radio key (More accessory outputs) A timed output, a user controlled timer output and 1 further output that can be configured in a number of different ways - 9 to be exact. They both have door, boot and bonnet protection. They both have ultrasonic protection. The C5T2 has a built in dual stage shock sensor. They both have 2 immobilisation circuits. Both passively arm (Optional), Both auto rearm (optional). Both give indicator outputs on arming, disarming and triggering. Both have short circuit protection circuitry. The C5 has a red LED, the AI606 has a tri colour LED red, green and amber. They both have a battery back-up siren. They both have the ability to let you know the cause of the last alarm trigger, via LED flashback. Both have full CDL control. Both have a second siren output. Both have an armed negarive output. Both bring your interior light on upon disarming. Both have arm and disarm tones (Optional). Both have the ability to arm without ultrasonic protection I.E leaving the windows down on your vehicle with your alarm armed. Both have a secure 4 digit pin override, incase your radio kesy are lost, stolen or damaged. Both have a panic facility, in case you need to trigger the alarm system in an emergency. Both have the facility to lock the doors on the vehicle when the ignition is switched on (Optional). Both have a limited lifetime warranty. (Not including any labour warranty that the installing dealer would supply). They are both compatiable with a whole host of aftermarket accessories such as impact sensors single and dual stage, microwave sensors single and dual stage, glass break sensors, tilt sensors, window closure modules, pagers, text alerts (To text you mobile phone when the alarm system is triggered) or additional sirens. N.B The additional aftermarket sensors will simply plug into the Ai606 it has both one single stage and one dual stage sensor input, where as the C5 has a wire that can be programmed to accept either a single sensor output or a dual stage sensor output and as such any additional sensors you required with this product would have to be hard wired. Hope this info helps you out. I notice that they are both the same price (£250+/-), which one of the two is better? cheers Koji MikeyN 02 October 2006, 11:50 Hey Mike.N thanks for that, so what is the built-in dual stage shock sensor that the C5 has? edited to ask how difficult is it to get the C5 (once installed) to activate the facility of locking the doors when ignition is ON? I notice that they are both the same price (£250+/-), which one of the two is better? cheers Koji Hi there, The dual stage shock sensor on the C5T2 is a sensor that will chirp the siren when it detects a light knock to your vehicle (Someone banging against the wheels) and will trigger the alarm system when a hard impact is detected on the vehicle (Someone hitting the vehicle etc) and the sensitivity of these can be adjusted by the installing dealer to suit your vehicle - You will also notice that one of these sensors can be directly plugged in in addition to the AI606 at an extra cost and then set-up. The ignition locking on both the Toad AI606 and the C5T2 is software programable and this can only be perfomed by your local dealer as the software selection chart to adjust any settings on the alarm system is a security sensitive document and is not included in any of the boxes for these security systems - only the authorised dealers and Toad engineers should have access to this document, but the procedure to cahnge this particular switch and any others should only take a matter of minutes. The better alarm system is the one that fits your requirements better. The AI606 has more versaltility about it and I would say this is more popular than the C5T2 but from an installation point of view the C5T2 will be a little easier to install as this is a compact unit the siren and ECU gets mounted in the engine bay, there is then a link to an immobilisation unit which will be installed somewhere in your car and the wiring loom will get run to the required points within the vehicle. Where as the AI606 is a modular unit and witht he exception of the siren and bonnet pin switch will all be installed within the vehicle - so an installer may well charge less for installing a C5T2 opposed to the AI606 it is upto them. The AI606 is also easier to add additinal sensors on to at either the point of installation or at a later date, and also more modules can be controlled via the radio key hence the 4 buttons on the radio key with the Toad AI606 opposed to the 2 buttons on a Toad Compact. Hope this has answered all of your questions, if not please feel free to reply to this thread or pm me. Regards Mike.N:) MazingerZ 02 October 2006, 19:51 Cheers mate, that is what I was looking for! I used to have a AI606 in my my94 WRX, I now have an MY97 STi and has the C5t2 but never really notice the difference. thanks again mate Koji |
