The weather forecast for this weekend looks crappy, but I want to go out and play with my new camera somewhere. I'm based in Farnborough, Hants, and I'm prepared to travel an hour or so.

Anyone have any suggestions please?

I acquired a 2nd hand 350D this week, and since then, every time I have made the effort to get home early for some pics in the garden, it has become overcast and very dull, and all the usual birds (robins, blue and great tits etc) which normally flutter about, have gone into bl**dy hiding

It seems that the Sigma 70-300mm lens I have with it needs much brighter conditions!

Are there any airshows on down that way? :)

Forests, local fairs perhaps?

It's getting to Autumn propper now and the nights are drawing in and the dawn is now at a decent time of day :)

If I were you I'd get down to the South Coast, around the New Forest etc. and get some early morning mist and dramatic evening sunsets.

You might have to try your luck with the weather but moody skies can be quite interesting as long as you keep your kit dry ;)

Thanks for the suggestions - I think I'm more an evening person than early morning, though :)

CW: That's the nice thing about the 1D, it's much more tolerant of wet weather than I am :D

I know what you mean about the mornings but sunrise is about 7am at the moment so almost in my range, at least it's there when I open the curtains ;)

Sunset is 1850 ish so is just right for my midweek sunset chasing activites atm :D

I knew about the 1D, hence the ;)
