No where near - more like 1500 quid.
check biketrader and have a look at similar bikes.
These bikes were always made down to a budget. you can get a Honda VTR for that:)
WHEELSHOP0_0 27 September 2006, 10:32 Thanks for that, I have looked on biketrader and they are advertised from £1600/£2800 but I dont know if they actually sell. Are they desireable at all as I know nothing about these bikes (went back and read some reviews) and they seem to be OK,
Pudders69 27 September 2006, 10:41 Good bikes, but weren't popular when new so don't expect a queue of people.
Its all about condition on an older yam
WHEELSHOP0_0 27 September 2006, 10:50 Thanks for the replies, I take it that Sept/Oct. is the optimum time to sell bikes anyway:(

No....march/april into summer...unless you advertise it i can see you having it for a while i.e 6 months...sorry...just my opinion.
I'd give em a low price as has been mentioned and pass it on at cost to sell it. They are quoting main dealer price to you not private sale price coming into winter, well thats what i think.
WHEELSHOP0_0 27 September 2006, 11:20 Thanks I thought the winter would be a problem.Hmmm what to do now.

Could get a local 2nd hand bike dealer to value it (infront of the customer)and take it off ya hands at cost...if that gets you the sale:thumb:
WHEELSHOP0_0 27 September 2006, 13:23 Cheers might try that,I knew bikers were good guys.:)
merlin24 27 September 2006, 19:54 Gary - if its in mint condition and the normal sensible mods have been done
eg - blue spot front calipers, "non restrictive can's",decent tyres - its prob.
worth £1900-2200.
Has a good cult following helped by the Trellis Frame,10 Valve Head and Dry Sump and bags of mid range torque for a parallel twin.
( Lara Croft rode a modded one in Tomb Raider :luvlove: )
Decent one's dont turn up all that often so might sell quite quick if its
a good 'un.

Very nice but surely you need to put the original fairing back on & give it the 'subtle' look. Personally I think the original fairing really suits the slimness of the bike - what would look cool in the original fairing is the later exup twin bulb light (the one with 2 red rings around the projector units).
What front end have you used - Ducati/Aprillia - guess it european with the Brembos on it.
Just think theres potentional now for Yamaha to release an updated take on the TRX (not dis-similar to yours), using R1/R6 lights, USDs and the 900cc TDM motor. The original concept again shows Yamaha's adventurous thinking (ie TDM, TDR, GTS, SRX, MT-01 etc).
WHEELSHOP0_0 28 September 2006, 10:02 Cheers Merlin, your bike looks fantastic, if its anything like that its a done deal,(not expecting that though). thanks for all replies:thumb:

It's a Ducati 750SS USD front end on it,GSXR600 K4 headlamp,
SV650 K4 Digital Speedo head,Yamaha R6 Brake master cyl,braided hoses,
Wavey Disks and the Brembo's with sintered pads.
Yamaha XJR1300 rear wheel, R1 brake caliper, and R1 tail light.
Comes down to personal taste at the end of the day but I think the original fairing looks "dated" and prefer naked bikes anyway, but agree that Yamaha should update the TRX because there is a Big market for it and similar bikes.
Being a Petrolhead,i love to fettle all things Mechanical(Bikes,Cars Engines).
Here's the last one i built from Scratch :norty:

graham22 29 September 2006, 09:43 You like your Yamaha parts - FJ1100/1200 motor, yam forks, wheels, brakes & swinging arm too - did you make the frame?
Agree that the TRX fairing looks dated but does look very 'appropriate' if you see what I mean.
Also agree with naked bikes bit, after years of RG, FZRs, CBRs and GSXR have bought a 990 Superduke, thinking about it (apart from dirt bikes) my last unfaired bike was my 350LC 20 years ago!! The GSXR was only getting exciting at 130+, the SD brings the fun to a 'non-prison sentence' type of speed but still goes round corners like a sports bike.

Spot on Graham22 - 80% Yam parts apart from the GSXR rear wheel and
tank :)
FJ1100 Stage 3 lump - approx.138 BHP - well scary as it weighs less than a
600 Bandit
Designed the frame myself and got a mate to jig and tig it.
It was featured in BSH a couple of years ago, sold it last year and still looks good when I see it locally.
