Just testing the water before I get a container load of these brought into the UK. :D

This tyre is simply awesome in the dry, nice stiff sidewalls and lots of rubber make for a perfect occasional or frequent track day tyre aswell as being good and responsive on road.

As well as good grip they wear well - my currewnt set of 225 have done 12500 miles including 3 trackday, a trip and 13 laps of the ring and still have 3-4 mm of tread left 8-)

The 235 is only available in Japan at present (UK models get the 225/45/17 profile) and gives quite a bit more grip than the 225.

Can you add your name to the list as being sort of interested and when & if this comes off I will create a proper group buy.

Cost wise, I am still negotiating but suffice to say that they will be good or else I wont bother getting them imported :D :D

will a 235 run on a 7.5 rim?

dynamix
25 September 2006, 17:22
yes - they will run on a 7.5 inch rim - will go on 6.5 to 8.5 altough I think they would be too big for 6.5 inch to be honest.

I am gonna run them on 8 inch rims

I think that it is only 17 inch rims available in 235/45 profile - but I will be checking to see what is made.

If I remember rightly they only make 2 sizes :(

These tyres are the reason I will stay on 17's ;)

Tempting......my standard RE040's are running low, was going to change to
18's but this might tempt me to stay with 17's for a little longer.

What are these like in the wet?

dynamix
27 September 2006, 16:35
ok but to be honest not the best when cold aswell - tyres such as F1's are better but once warm these come into their own and give far more grip.

According to a tyre size comparision website, the difference between 225/45/17 and 235/45/17 is:

0.2inch increase in sidewall (4.6mm)
0.3inch increase in diameter (9.0mm)
1.1inch increase in circumference (28.3mm)
12rev/mile decrease (7rev/km)
Speedo will read 1.4% slow ie: 60mph indicated = 60.9mph actual (100kph = 101.4kph)

The 9mm increase in diameter is similar to the difference between a new and worn set of tyres so probabily minimum impact.

Do the MY05-06 STI's come with the 235/45/17 tyres and the same 17x7.5inch wheels as the MY02-05 STI's ?

Cheers, Mark

06 STi's come with 8J wheels

Maybe the diff in diameter will make up for discrepancies in the clock vs reality

Euro MY06 STI comes with 225/45/17 just checked.

If the price is right I'm in.
