Hi,
Considering buying one of these £1000 less retail price motorbikes as advertised on ebay but I remember hearing once that because they are Euro imports items such as headlights aren't compatible with UK when it comes to MOT time?
Is this a myth or is it a genuine saving and are there any other thing to be conscerned about?
Thanks

If the speedo and lights havent been changed then that more for you to do, annnnd they should be, but might not be full power depending on where they were due for...stick with official unless you have answers to all of the above.

Just make sure you buy a UK spec one and its not a problem, make sure thats wrote on the sales receipt for your and any future buyers peace of mind and enjoy the savings.
You can expect a lesser value come re sale time but in a lot of cases buyers or sales people dont ask if its an import or not and you'll get the full UK value...even if you dont, you'll only lose a few hundred quid compared to a UK model...
If its a good deal, go for it

It's worth checking that it's a UK colour scheme, as it can be a right sod to get fairing panels, decals, touch-up paint etc if it isn't... Not saying you'll need them, of course. But you might ;)
Everything else is covered above, I think...

I bought one of these spanky new in Germany:

Paid just over 6k when they were just under 9. Got them to fit a UK speedo iirc. Cost £100 to ship it over. Took months to sort out the registration!
Bought another foreign blade from a grey importer (Planet Motorcycles). Massive saving, UK spec conversion in the deal. No problem at all. You'll want uk headlights for sure and probably a MPH speedo but most LCD types have a software setting, else you definitely want a MPH speedo.
As for re-sale, much depends on how long you'll keep it and which bike it is. Depreciation from spanky new is massive usually but if you don't pay VAT, import duty etc. you can make a killing...
Screwd.
