Been bidding on a few 30D 's lately , mainly on Canon's eBay site , anyway they have sent me an email for a second chance offer on a refurb 30D for £581.00 which was my maximum bid . anybody had any bad experiances with them ? This would be the only place I would buy a second hand camera from , do you think this is a good price , cheapest I can find is £720.00 brand new (UK shop )

I have a 350D at the moment , but wouldnt mind the bigger LCD screen, spot metering and better AF .

Anybody gone from a 350D to a 30D

Thoughts anyone ?

I looked into this after I nearly bought a 1DmkIIN from Canon's Ebay shop on Monday. Seems that most people are very happy (check their feedback), but a few have complained that 'refurbished' didn't live up to their expectations, and that problems are slow to sort out if they occur.

My 10D came as a canon refurb from ebay. It was in great condition, had all the boxes, leads and manuals. Also came with 1 year warranty.

As long as the 2nd chance offer IS from them, via Ebay!:thumb:

Watch out for email offers which pretend to be 2nd chance offers but ask you to respond direct via a link in the email, not via Ebay.:nono:

If you do get anthing like that, report it to Ebay immediately! I've had a few '2nd chance offers' with lenses and Dell 24" monitors I've bid on, they are usually just a scam and nothing to do with the original sale.

Be careful and only deal through Ebay directly, if it's genuine then it won't be a problem.

Sorry for the sermon but you have been warned ;)

OK thanks . Going to try and put in a lower maximum bid on the next few that come up see if I can get one a bit cheaper than £581 , But the last one went for £710.00:eek: (with kit lens )so maybe £581 isnt a bad price after all .

Thanks for the warning :)

The second offer email that I got took me straight back to the original auction with a buy it now price of £581 , It all looks genuine and seems a bargain at that price , Im really tempted now :wonder:

Sounds good then :thumb:

I've deleted all the 30D's out of my watched items, but looking at the 'buy it now from HK' prices that looks a good deal, and you get the warranty ;)

I have the 20D and I love it :D The 30D has a few improvements, but not enough for me to change.

Go for it ;)

Agreed, the 30 isnt enough for me to upgrade to from my 20D but if i was in the market for a camera now the 30D would be on the list, although my next camera will be 1 series ! ;)

you won't be disappointed with the 30d. i went straight in at the 30d and am more than pleased. i know someone who has gone from 350d to 30d in the last few weeks and they have said that they cannon believe the difference.

The second chance offer should appear in the messages / offers section when you log into ebay. Lots of scams using 2nd chance offers at the moment.

Thinking of doing the very same thing myself. 350D > 30D

I might just go a bit madder and go for a 5D :norty:

Finding it hard to justify though as Im getting some great results from the 350D :brickwall

Well I didn't take up the second chance offer , but I put another maximum bid in for £561.00 and and didn't get the second chance offer on that one , So I guess the minimum they will take is around the £580.00 mark ... still not bad .
Ill keep trying anyway .

Same here , but the main thing I wanted was the larger LCD screen, spot metering and the higher ISO , plus a shed load of other advantages I'll only appreciate when I start using the 30D.

You gadget freaks.... I bought my 300d the first week it was out and it still does everything I need it to. (Except fit in my shirt pocket!)
