I washed my car today using my normal pressure washer which ive had for ages but i had to get a new head for it as the seal went on the old one. The jet was a bit smaller than before and consequently a bit more powerful. It still said on the packet that it was fine to use on your car.

Below is what has happened to my car when i used it.

Firstly do u think this is acceptable, as i am planning on complaining to the company, as it has also, on top of this taken some metal of my recently refurbished alloy wheel, despite again saying it was fine to use wheels. Im considering taking the wheel back to the refurb place as it was only done recently and should not have cracked off just from a pressure washer.

I am planning on taking it to the local body shop on monday morning but was just wondering if anyone her could recommend any way that i could fix this myself? It hasn;t actually taken any paint off just the layer over the paint.

:eek: thats bad - but I suppose its how fine you had the jet of water set to as mine will take paint off a fence as well start cutting through the damn thing - I wouldnt dream of using it on that fine setting on the car :nono: you should be using a medium setting nothing more.

the wheel, well that will not have been refurbed properlly, no fault of the preasure washer

the preasure washer i have at work has insane amounts of preasure when turned right up (full on £8/900`s worth of 3 phase/420 volt BEAST!!! which needs to be mounted to a big arse bracket bolted to the wall to stop the torque smashing things up :D :D ) and i could not see how mine would cause damage like that picture?

FWIW i am useing mine to power 2 jet lances , its really quite powerfull :D

maybe if grit somehow managed to get into the water supply and it ended up grittblasting the paintwork?

It seems to me that the pressure washer may have opened a crack in the clearcoat then just peeled it back. this could be due to a number of reasons, best of luck m8.

I don't really know what that means to be honest mate, can you explain to me?

I did have a knock in the roof a while ago that had to be repaired, i think that was about a year ago, does that mean that they haven't done the job properly?

hello joek 101 as you have explained the roof has been repaired ie re painted whats happened is that they have ,nt keyed up the roof panel for laquer properly, so what happens over a period of time weather depending the fresh coat of laquer starts to peal back especialy if a jet wash is used , you should have some sort of paint warranty ie three years or so depending on who painted the roof i would go back to them and see what they have to say about the matter :nono:

Been to the body shop today, they are going to repair it next week for free so thats a good result. just need to get the wheel sorted out now

Nice one, was going to say shoddy work is more than likely to blame. The only time I've stripped paint with my Karcher is when the bodyshop failed to do the edges properly on my wheel arch lips. :)
