Default new tyres northern group buy, kind of

Both myself and Martin sti are in need of new rubber, I've got a mate who'll do a killer deal on goodyear F1's. £340 for 4, fitted and balanced. We are buying before the end of this month. If you want some at that price, let me know on here. Any size for now, although I've yet to speak to the chap about availability in sizes other than the one we want 225/40/18's for an 03 sti.
Other tyres are available, with the prices below: all for 225/40/18's.
make / each / x4
goodyear eagle F1 £109.00 £436.00
Pirelli P-Zero Rosso
Toyo T1-R
Pirelli P-Zero Nero
Continental Conti2s
dunlop sp9000
michelin ps2

List:
cw42 x 4 goodyear eagle f1

remember, this is only going to the end of this month, and only if your prepared to travel to Stockport for fitting

edited to take out the tyre prices, as it's not fair on my mate to quote prices he can no longer match (my fault for not checking with him first on the new prices slapped wrist)

No idea, but I'm guessing that this price is what it is, no negoitiation. It is rather a good price, and if you can get them cheaper elsewhere, be my guest.
Just as a comparison, blackcircles are:

Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3 XL 225/40 R18 Z £123.73 £494.92
Delivery £9.40
(all incl.) £504.32

Go figure!

A while ago I got a dodgy deal of a m8 of mine and aquired some Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD2 - I fitted them to the front but kept the back as perelli`s now I want to change the back but I am thinking of getting 2 fitted off your m8 as its a belting price including fiting - Chris - do you think there is a diffrence between the GSD2 and GSD3?

Chris very kindly put me onto this bloke.

I tried and you wont get cheaper - full stop! even internet companies.

Yep i would imagine he'd fit them for nowt as well.

If you need tyres you'd be silly to pass this up.

Thumbs up

it is a good deal as best prise I could find for the quoted tyre was this

Goodyear
Summer tyres EAGLE F1 GS-D3
225/40 ZR18 92Y XL BSW, VSB * With mytyres.co.uk only £ 101.40 that includes delivery - you would then need to add about £12 for fitting/balanceing

good deal this is guys!! get your name down

Yes, there is a big difference between the 2. D2 is not as long lasting, has a different tread design, and is not as good as the D3. D3 is longer lasting and better all round
Go for it Justin, and stop wasting money on polish!

Chris what load rating are they, dont need any now but might be worth getting a set for when i do at that price.

I think mine are 92W at the moment but i think 92Y will also do. these are the extra load ones im not sure what the Sti's use.

Cheers

Not sure you know what I mean - will the mix of the d3 on the rear and d2 on the front cause any effect to the handling?

I seem to remember you buying a tub of nattys blue and you also cleaned your engine

I'll ask him tomorrow adam, mark.

My tub of nattys was a gift off the wife, honest. I've got the only remaining cans of cd2 engine cleaner left in the country, I had to try it on my motor

I have no idea about running d3's and d2's front and back, I'd post in the tyre forum for a top answer on that one justin

Come on you guys, I have read that the price of tyres is going to rise rapidly due to manufacturing costs (rubber price) and disposal costs.

Get them while they are cheap, it wont last long and then you will be sorry.

Do I sound like you Dad, I must be getting old.

If I hadn't just got a new set of tires and alloys, then I would be signing up for it.

If only it were ARB's, mounts and shocks on sale!

Off to scan the Group Buy threads!

good point that as the girlfriends brother is buying a set of 18" rims for his golf - he could save a few quid by buying the rims then having the tyres slapped on.

spen, you're taking the **** aren't you? Best I can find on the net is £158.00
at camskill for one tyre, go figure.

I'll be speaking to my chap tomorrow, but I'm not getting bogged down with different tyres and prices. I've done a tyre group buy before with my mate, and been let down in the past, once bitten twice shy. So I'm keeping this simple.
The deal is what the deal is. I'll ask about different sizes, and I'm sure he'll accomodate, just don't expect the earth guys

Sorry to hi-jack the thread

I have a set of part warn 225/45/17 RE070s available. Just getting down to the wear strips, but plenty of life in them for more trackdays.

I need to replace them with legal rubber for our up-comming trip to The Ring, so I am having to take them off earlier than expected.

PM me for more info

Back to you CW

ok, prices have risen a bit since the last quote

eagle f1 gsd3 225/40/18 £109 each x 4 = £436 all in (fitting, vat, balance)
eagle f1 gsd3 235/40/18 £144 each x 4 = £576 as above.
eagle f1 gsd3 225/45/17 £97 each x 4 = £388 as above.
no price yet on semi slicks adam, he's waiting for some people to call him back. (think super's may be your best bet )
Load rating is Z on all the sizes.

A bit of an increase, but still cheaper than web prices, and a great service off Steve. I'm going for that price.
Who else is in?

cw42 4 x f1 225/40/18's £436

Ok I have bought some this morning. 4 X Dunlop for £376 (saved £200) off www.tyretraders.com
Then can pay a lad who works for me to fit so quite a saving. They are not GSD's but I will live with this.
Thanks Chris for trying and at previous prices was absolute bargain.
With Chris's mate you get the fitting etc and the Dunlops are a special offer due to not the latest 9000 series but I can live with that.
Had 8000 series on my Astra GSi and they were ok.
