sorry could not resist,

never tried one but have always been interested what they could do, at 1 point my mum was looking at getting one but they where all around £250-£300 and she was unsure how good it would be around the house, £20 does seem very cheap tho don’t see that it would be any good at that price but then that just me, always buy the expensive 1 thinking it’s the best not always the case but I have sent cash on to many stupid cheap things and then had to spend even more to get a good 1 a few weeks later

would be interested in what others say about how good steam cleaners are, do they work on alloys ???

Not worth it in my opinion - I can get engine bays sparkling in 1-2 hours using just a decent degreaser, a powerwasher and a selection of good towels and dressings, so for me a steam cleaner makes no sense. A decent wet and dry vac for interior use, now there's a tool worth buying! :)

which one do you use rich??

i have a mate useing a big £500 numatic thing with twin motors (i think)
he raves on about it all the time, but it costs a lot when it breaks

i use the small george/clentech numatic style ones, parts are cheap, replacement motors can be had for around £40 deliverd and the replacement chemical pumps are around £40 for a pattern part (never replaced a chemical pump yet TBH)

i do tend to go through quite a few motors, but there on nearly every single day and sometimes its a solid 10hour shift for them all day long, so its not suprising TBH :lol1:

they tend to get hot

i have a 5 litre water kettle at work which fills the chemical tank to the brim, so while the machine is being used, the kettle is boiling up another 5 litres, ready for action, works very well, record so far is around 13 loads into the wetvac to clean a ford galaxy

We've just acquired a George! As you say, very good value, and unlike you, we might only use it once or twice a week, so good value is even more important, otherwise we'd never get the money back quick enough. Worked a treat on the interior of an M3 CSL today, very pleased with it. :)

i spoke to soon, chemical pump melted today :(
lad called me over to say it was smoking

had to nip over to asda for a £4.32 2 litre spray thing to finish a car

does your "george" have the chemical line inside the main vaccum hose?

if so i recomend you go to b&q and buy sum small black tube, i think it was for a fishtank, and keep it spare for when the standard one breaks, simply ziptie it to the outside of the hose, much better :D
