Hi

I need a Cat1 alarm installed for insurance purposes. My car already has an Autowatch 239TI immob installed but the insurance company want the alarm aswell.

Whats the best route to do this using as little money as possible. Ive been offered a alarm/immob cat 1 installed for just under £200, but it seems a shame to throw the old immob away etc.

Anyone have any ideas. I need this done asap and live in Sutton, Surrey.

Thanks

sean

If the existing immobiliser is Cat 2 certified, and you are happy with it then you need only really installl a Cat 2 to 1 alarm upgrade, which will use the existing immobiliser but bring the security upto Cat 1 standard.
However I doubt this will save you a great deal of money - especially compared to the quote you have already been given for a full Cat 1.
It may be easier just to have the one system for ease of operation.

Obviously your budget is your own business, but remember that the cheapest installs are generally also the quickest installs and, regardless of the product used, may not be that effective securing your vehicle.
