Hey guys, am thinking of putting 18's on my classic with 225/40/18 tyres. What problems would i have eg. rubbing. I know i'll have to change to coilovers so i don't catch on the suspension. I'll only be lowering it a fraction though, say 10-20mm. Was thinking Powerstation for the suspension and a geometery setup with bump steer mod, does this sound good? :wonder:

We put 18's on our classic but with the advice from Si we used 205/35/18 . If you used 8in you will have rubbing on inside. but these sizes will cause no problems for you

Haven't tried it but would assume you would have problems, 225/40 is the size they use on newage. Most people with classic's (including me) use a 215/35, although the size prodrive fit on the P1 as an option is 225/35 which is what i'm going for next.

We had ours from Scoobyworld and these were the sizes recommended.

i use 225/35/18 on my p1 and there spot on but i know that 225/40/18 cause trouble.

Ive just had a set of Rota Gra's in 18's with Yokaham Paradas in 215/35/18's for my MY00 turbo 2000 and they fit easily enough just waiting for some extra cash so i can send it to powerstation for the bump steer mod, springs alignment etc

S.S.S has a thread with pictures of his classic on 18s floating around which may be worth looking at

believe me kev i cant leave them on, the arch clearence with the standard suspension makes it look like a discovery

Put mine on with standard suspension, doesn't look hardly any different with eibachs. What suspension you going for??

Was going for the H&R springs with the 50mm drop, Same springs as S.S.S is running on his classic. dont believe he has any probs with them and havent heard glowing reviews bout the eibachs with regards to rattles etc.

Running 18's on my classic with 215/35/18 and dont seem to have any problems...........the famous words ...... lol

hi fella, if your going for 18's get a 215/35/18 they will go no problemo when you lower the car 20-35mm :D :thumb:

I'm the same as dean, 18" on standard springs, doesn't look to bad. One thing to bear in mind, they do take a little while to bed back down after jacking the car up, mine did when we changed the wheels over.

hi i have 235 40 18 on my clasic and the rub with 2 in the back gutted need 35 profile :(

Mine are 18's with a 35 profile on the standard suspension and they fit perfectly. No rubbing whatsoever.

I had 18`s with 225/35 on my classic and no problem, although my car is 35mm lower than standard. Today I`ll get new Toyos r888 with 225/40. Maybe I have to raise the car a bit, but I think it might fit without any changes. I`ll see :norty:
