more proof the FA are weak as piss! He's a compromise and nothing more.

How's it feel being 2nd choice ??, uncomfortable !

At least he's worked with these guys for the past 4 years, still a shabby choice IMHO.

2nd choice? The FA admitted that they spoke to Wenger right at the start, add Scolari into the equation and he's at least third choice!

They couldn't get Wembley right and they're not getting this right either! Its a joke.

without doubt he is a superb coach The day he left derby as Jim Smiths assistant was the day we started our slide down the premiership and into the "championship" (****e name for division 2).
He has done reasonably well with Middlesborough but he just hasnt served his time yet

You are having a laugh :cuckoo: tactically hopeless.

Just ahead of O'leary as the most irritating manager in the prem.

Amazing appointment.

This is the manager who's team took a 4-0 drubbing from of all teams this year.....Aston Villa!!

.........and a 7-0 hammering from Arsenal!!

Do the FA just look at the last 6 games as a performance indicator??

Clueless, completely clueless!

I don't think too many Boro fans are bothered he's gone, and it looks like we've lined up our next already. Martin O'Neill was spotted at Gisborough Hall today (a few miles from the Boro).

So it looks like the geordies will have to stick with Roeder. I'm not surprised O'Neill chose Boro over the geordies, who in their right mind would want to work for Freddie Shepard (apart from arrogant tw*ts like Souness) ;)

He masterminded a thrashing of Chelsea - a thrashing of Man.Utd. - beating Arsenal and a draw with Liverpool .....

He has lifted the Carling Cup and 'may' lift the UEFA Cup next Wednesday .....

He is hardly clueless

When he had Boro's best team fit and ready they thrashed allcomers - with England he will always have a top team ready and able!!

Could be interesting .... Martin O'Neil would be good for Boro .... he knows that working for Steve Gibson is a priveledge and he will get 120% support.

Newcastle won't attract anyone there if the Boro job is on offer - they simply do not look like doing anything in the future ....... has-beens, sadly.

My heart sank when I heard McLarens appointment yesterday. How on this earth can one of the best known and successful managers (Scolari) have the job, and the next week a managerial non entity who's already part of an underacheiving England side be put in charge? Even one of his players Gareth Southgate reckons Mclaren isn't ready for the job.

What's all this crap that an Englishman has to be in charge of the squad? I'm fed up of hearing this, I couldn't care what nationality the coach is as long he was the best available. After all, the 11 players on the pitch will be all English born and bred, surely that's what counts. For the life of me, I cannot remember a head coach being selected that was the best available man for the job at the time.

This whole fiasco serves the game no purpose at all, it makes me wonder about the competancy on the whole set up, just look at Wembley FFS. Why Martin O'Neill wasn't offered the job on day one, Christ only knows. Instead we've had a hatfull of 'great white hope' managers from mediocre and underacheiving English clubs. Appointing an England manager who's managed a team to 13th place in the premiership is almost as technically inept as getting Klinsmann to run your national side.

Well written SN555.

Not sure if I'm pissed off or not, really??
Well, you seem to be in a minority Pete. Every, single Smog fan I've spoken to in the last 24hrs, is delighted he's going. It's quite a few fans too, bearing in mind I teach 9 miles from the Riversh!te Stadium. The most successful Manager in Smog history, and the fans can't wait to get rid of him. :lol1:

I'm quite happy he's gone to England, as I was worried a while back, at all the talk of him joining Newcastle. Phew... Result! :lol1:

Kill me if he went to the Toon, lets see what he can do for In-Ger-Land, should already have a working knowledge from his role anyway.

Good luck to the man and the nation, hope the media keep off his back, especially his family:mad:

Richie's correct. Nothing we can do now, except back him and hope he does a good job.

I should be back again Richie. I assume you'll be there too! :luxhello:

Did you read the article in www.nufc.com (http://www.nufc.com) yesterday? Tells you all about the Pro Badge and who has it, and when they got it. Big Mouth Sam Allardyce got his in 2005... So much for not being allowed to manage a team whilst studying for the badge!

Cheers
