Extremecapture 03 May 2006, 20:58 Hank-They are superb mate, really like them a lot, i think you have the panning technique down to a t now:thumb:
Paul:)
HankScorpio 03 May 2006, 21:42 Cheers Paul!
I'm very aware that with limited circuit access, pics can get very samey, I wasn't sure about the wide stuff before, I was always keen on really tight shots but the more I do it, the more I think they look OK.
Adds a bit of variety if nothing else!
1/30 cripes! Well done matey! :thumb:
HankScorpio 03 May 2006, 22:52 lol
Bob, it's all in the zoom!
I've found wider can be much slower than zoomier (for the effect I'm after) without losing control totally:

CharlieWhiskey 03 May 2006, 22:54 Has that lens got a 2 mode IS (or VR for you Nikonites)?:wonder:
HankScorpio 03 May 2006, 22:56 Yep, works a treat as long as it's not tilted too much. Gets confused I think.
It's the 80-400 VR
darlodge 03 May 2006, 23:58 Nice pics.
Is that Brands? It looks like Druids up from paddock hill but I could be wrong :)
Darren
HankScorpio 04 May 2006, 08:56 Almost, exit of Druids on the way down to Graham Hill. I don't like the armco on the way into to druids, prefer the tyres and ads on the way out...

mark1234 04 May 2006, 09:50 Wish I could pan that well... only comment is I'd place the car in the left of the frame leaving space in the direction of motion, for the car to 'move into'
HankScorpio 04 May 2006, 10:08 Yeah, unfortunatley there's a couple of huge trees in the way and it's on a bend so having it on the right leaving the frame is a good deal easier. The car is almost parallel with the camera so more of it is sharp and picking it up and holding it on the right focus gives more time to track accurately than the left.
Also, the AFC is so good, if you pick up before the trees and pan past them, it'll switch focus to the trees and you have to be on half press for a short period anyway to allow the VR to kick in.
Could be done on the opposite side of the circuit but the 8 foot fences get in the way!!
Excellent panning :thumb:
John.
definitely gets easier the more you practice :thumb:
