Always wondered why this event struggled to attract the quality and quantity of entry it deserved in the past. People seem to have cottoned on this year though. DamienTNArallying 15 May 2006, 16:48 No.29, new nav too. Always wondered why this event struggled to attract the quality and quantity of entry it deserved in the past. We had fun day in new car. stage one lost intercome at 2nd junction, had to rely on hand signals!:hjtwofing ha New car took quite a bit of getting used to, but seems spot on and the potentials there, just need to learn to peddle it now. Paul what happened to you? Day davidoff 22 May 2006, 16:23 Reasonable day for myself and new nav Andy Morgan. Cocked up the artificial hairpin right into square left near the start of SS1, had it all set to go up the hill on the approach looking for a square left only to find it was on the hairpin. Caught it too late and slid wide into the very soft ditch on the outside, reverse gear and ramming speed and she eventually came out but around fifteen seconds lost straight away, spent the next two miles wondering if I'd bust a shaft as the bloody car wouldn't stay straight but eventually sussed it was the conditions and got the hammer down again. SS2 was better with no dramas and started to figure out whether the changes we'd made to the car since the Humberside had worked or not, all seemed okay, bit more confidence in Andy and a reasonable time. SS3 still improving, settling down, no dramas. SS4 and enough confidence in car and co-driver to start pushing in Walters, lots of space to drift the car and a good time, pleased with 8th overall and the only N4 runner to knock Julian Reynolds off his perch all day. SS5 and 6 felt good but were a little slower judging by the times, elected not to change the rear tyres at service as they looked okay but with hindsight I should have put some fresh rubber on as they gave up quite quickly after that. Overfuelled the bugger too, (must get a proper gauge sorted) so we ended up dropping down the order from 14th and 4th N4 after SS4 to 17th and 7th N4. Still, pleased with the performance on the day, happy with the car now but planning a few changes before the next event. Who bottled the jump then? Took it flat on the first run, by the time we got to the chicane it was wide enough for us not to have to lift so we had a proper run up from the previous corner. Don't think I've ever been in the air so long, car landed nose first and it took a couple of bites to get it back in line again. Elected to squat the car down on the second run by dabbing the brakes just before it took off and it landed much better. Any pics of car 29 would be appreciated. D. paul walker 22 May 2006, 20:55 well done to the rest of the forum members for getting to the finish. we had not the best of days. the pipe connecting the clutch slave cylinder to the gearbox decided it had had enough half way through stage one, not that much of a proplem during the stage, (14th fastest) but a real problem on the road section. unfortunatly we then wnt otl fixing it. (keep the rest of this quiet) we travelled 6 hours to get to this event so a little more stage miles would be appreciated. so we missed stage two and went to the start of three, blagged our way in (i do have my own insurance ), then did the rest. though not classified as a finisher. spin in stage three (great stage) good run through four doing a 6.32 eaqual to davids 8th fastest. half way through stage five the near side damper caniser burst leaving us with no damping (was like a fork lift truck) very nervous on the quick stuff. carried on to the end and nearly went off on the last corner. including the nominal time on stage two (which we would have had anyway) we would have finished 13th overall. nice one david. keep rallying that is what graham would have wanted mate davidoff 23 May 2006, 15:03 Thanks Paul. TAFF-RA 26 May 2006, 07:24 did anyone spot the pole dancing, rev encouriging marshalls near end of stage 3(halfway up the climb from haipin to finish) ?:luxhello: :notworthy :luxhello: |
