As my Fujifilm 9500 suffered damage when I stupidly left it on the tripod with my daughter crawling round, I've ordered a 350 with both kit lenses, and battery grip. Should have gone for it originally really. I'm quite annoyed having dug into the reason for most of my pics being rejected by istockphoto.com, the camera is sold as 9 MP, but half of that is interpolated. It is a very good all-round camera, but as I'm turning semi-pro, if that's possible, I think a DSL is the best bet.

I understand the 18-55 kit lens isn't up to much, so I may look at getting a Sigma or Tamron. I hope the 77-200 is ok - couldn't afford to upgrade that one!

Any one got a good insurance policy which covers accidental damage in and away from the home? I can't really claim on household insurance, as we have made 1 claim recently, and many companies won't insure us as my wife works from home and had visitors. They have you over a barrel don't they!

Try doing a search for photoguard. I'm insured with them as semi pro and have £1m public liability just incase the worst happens (sound gear aint cheap). When I first took out the policy I declaired just over 2k and the premium was £77, now with just over 8k of gear, I'm dreading updating it.

I found this (http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/readflat.asp?forum=1031&thread=17980415&page=1) thread on Dpreview the other day with regards to the kit lens ( I've just ordered the same camera )

Certainly possible to get some decent looking shots if you know what you're doing.... which at the moment I don't :0/

the kit lens gets a bit of bashing, but mine isn't as bad as many make the lens out to be. I'm happy with mine.

I think the kit lens that some of those shots refer to is the EF 50mm f/1.8 II (http://www.photozone.de/8Reviews/lenses/canon_50_18/index.htm) not the EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 II (http://www.photozone.de/8Reviews/lenses/canon_1855_3556/index.htm) as mine and most uk 350Ds come with.

Another vote for photoguard here (http://www.photoguard.co.uk/). I've got all my kit insured with them, and they seem pretty good. Will cover you for damage / theft etc, will do Uk, European, or worldwide cover, and public liability.
