how does it compare to a 50mm 1.4?

is it as fast (on a D70, firmware 2.0)?
is it sharp at 1.4? what are the sweet stops?

any sample pics? sunlight, indoors and arena/concert type shots appreciated.

No, but there are some reviews on Fred Miranda that rate it a 10, so it must be good!

i thought it was a good'n. better save some pennies. might be doing some gigs, so i'd like a slightly wider lens than the 50mil.

i want a full frame nikon dslr :(

I just want a completely noiseless sensor at 1600 ISO.

what's the d2x like with high iso/noise?

i quite like the noise some of the time (helps when it's unavoidable on the d70 lol) - lends itself to the moody low light situations.

Calling Alwyn to simualte a gig in his.

The D2x has 1 major problem, it relies on boosting its levels to hit 1600 and 3200, where as the D200 only has to boost to get to 3200, it has a native 1600 iso.

All these N***n users seem to have the same problem... they should have bought a Canon EOS 5D :lol1:

Nahhh wouldn't want a white lens, gotta pay the price somewhere!! :p

In all seriousness though, the D200 ain't bad, and I've seen more Nikons at gigs than Canons, and more canons used for press stuff than Nikons.

I quite like the noise at higher ISOs with the Nikons and if I need more to get that grainy film effect I can just use Photoshop to add more in :) What I want though is a 50 ISO setting with a "Velvia" mode -- all of the filters/actions I've seen with Photoshop never quite manage to make it as good as the original.

Almost forgot, the sweet spot on the 28mm f/1.4 is at f/5.6 according to the lens tests done by Chasseur d'Images

It's fine. I use mine at higher settings all the time.
