looking through a mag the other day i noticed a 'rally nuts' advert, advertising whiteline products so i looked for the anti lift kit to find they have 2 different kits listed 1 for the road @ £89.99 or 1 motorsport kit@ £115.99.
what is the difference for the extra mony? surely its only a diff bush?

Motorsport one has a much lower production volume. This increases cost.

Cynical reply is they're both the same but the motorsport one makes more profit.

I race on the 'street grade' units and they are fine.
The 'yellow bush' ALK is the posular road spec, and I think the race ones are a rock-hard blue, but could be wrong.

As Graham says, the motorsport anti lift kit REALLY is only for competition use only. The bushings are almost solid to reduce castor loss during cornering as much as possible. It is one of the things to fit if you are looking for the last few tenths on a stage or track and the rest of the suspension is being optimised as well. They can be VERY noisy for road use. For most applications the standard ALK is perfect. If you are an old git like me, you are better to use the Comfort version to have similar levels of NVH at all times.

The difference in price really is volume related both in manufacturing and stock turn-over. Whiteline probably manufactures more than 500 standard ALKs for every motorsport ALK.

Compare it to Kayaba and Penske. Kayaba Subaru shocks cost less than £100 and they manufacture thousands. Penske shocks for a Subaru will start somewhere from around £1000 upwards each and they will manufacture a few dozen.

got blue on mine, didn't realise they were race spec

i have a whiteline one, on my uk classic reduices about 90%
of the front end lift, so its well worth it.

Just bought Whilte line ALk kit, Bushes are black ie motorsport ones made of nylon rather than rubber.

Must have been my age/eyesight or the fact that i am very colourbling......

I am actually 'blind' to red and green as many european men are.

If I look at a cable with red as the colour and a green trace colour i am 'blind' to the trace colour.
I wasn't allowed to do electrics as an apprentice....

Just to assure my passengers, I can see traffic light/brake lights, but sometimes have to look hard to notice them!

All i do know is the yellow ALK is fine, no strange noises and such like, but I do think there are better ways to spend the $$ and get better results, ie Nortec top mounts.

Things are 'cool' as my daughter would say.....

Do that all in one go, and better still add some Ebach springs if the dampers are ok.

I did all mine ages ago, but a rough 'guestimate'

Roll bars: £250 fitted
ALK: 150 fitted
Tyres: 280 fitted
Alignment: about 200 (don't underestimate the benefit of this bit)
Springs fitted and supplied, about 400....or fit Sti V3 or V$/5/6 stock units.

fuzz will know much better.

Some of the above can be had second hand too if you search hard enough saving about 300.
