Anyone have an easy/cheap (wired) solution for triggering a manual/automatic flash off a hot-shoe, cheaply. Don't want to spend a fortune on it, nor do I want to use the builtin to fire an opto - slave (tried this, the builtin is kicking off too much effect on the image, even on manual 1/16th power).
Really what I want is an extension lead with a hot-shoe type connector on each end. (no pc-sync on flash or body).

Jessops do all sorts of little flash accessories for this. Best to try it in the shop to make sure it all fits/works.

What make of camera and flash are you using? If it's Nikon, the on board flash will not contribute to the exposure when using wireless.
If it's not, then sync cords are relatively cheap, even the manufacturer ones.

In my book 50odd quid for a dedicated sync cable is far from cheap.. but I'm quite pikey about spending money on things I use once in a blue moon!
The flash I'm using isn't dedicated.. it came out of the ark - I've tried using a little 6 quid opto slave thing you stick on the bottom of the flash - which is where the problem with the onboard comes from - the slave just fires when it sees a flash - which has to come from somewhere.
I'll try Richard's advice, there's not many jessops in oz, but I'm sure I'll find somewhere!
Thanks all.
