I went, but didn't see McCrae as his car broke on Sage 1. :-( The Grp N cars are a bit quiet after WRC's, but they were still being pushed good and hard :-) Slowly Sideways at the P-Zero stage were cool too, that Quattro sounded fantastic! Some pics & vids here (http://www.giveitfish.co.uk/rally/0605_pirelli/index.html). http://www.giveitfish.co.uk/rally/0605_pirelli/DSCF0082.JPG http://www.giveitfish.co.uk/rally/0605_pirelli/DSCF0088.JPG http://www.giveitfish.co.uk/rally/0605_pirelli/DSCF0138.JPG http://www.giveitfish.co.uk/rally/0605_pirelli/DSCF0149.JPG http://www.giveitfish.co.uk/rally/0605_pirelli/DSCF0164.JPG Anyone with more skills than me who can tell me how to stop all my pics of white cars being overexposed when the backgorund is spot-on? Would a polarizing filter help? Cheers, Steve Scoobychick 15 May 2006, 09:24 We were there and had a cracking weekend :thumb: We didn't see McRae either despite us being out on Bower 1 bright and early - he'd retired before he got to us. We did however see Nicky Grist in the service park during scrutineering on Friday ;) I didn't miss the WRC cars as the top GpN runners supplied us with plenty of entertainment although having said that we did wait to see the RallyMasters through on a couple of stages. At the point where we saw them Will Nicholls and Nick Broom seemed to be giving it plenty of beans :) We also watched the Trophy Rally on Sunday so we could wave to Mark - did you see us? ;) :D We were out on Kershope on Saturday evening when a Disco pulled up and some blokes got out. I said to my Dad that one of them was a dead ringer for Robert Reid, then as he walked past me I realised that it actually was Robert Reid :lol1: All in all it was an excellent weekend and the bonus was that the rain held off until it was all over :thumb: mark@wrx 15 May 2006, 10:18 Sorry Sal, I didn't see you. I was a bit preoccupied! Where were you watching? For the first time in ages, things actually went our way yesterday. Despite struggling with very inconsistent pacenotes, we set some really good times and had a very enjoyable day out. The first stage was a bit slippy under the dense trees but went well for a nice settler. Stage 2 Kershope, was fast! The last 3 miles was basically a combination of very fast left and right corners over small crests. Stage 3 was rough in places, Really rough! In a comment to the Motorsport News reporter at the end, I told him we'd have been better using a tractor through some of the stage as the ruts were about a foot deep This nearly ripped the exhaust off the car and Peter and I had to put up with the extra noise and some fumes in the car for the rest of the event. In this stage was a flat out section through a big dip, about half a mile long. The lead into it was flat out and by the time we had got to the bottom, the car was on the limiter in 5th gear. At 130mph-ish the car went light over a slight crest and got a little sideways moment on! Peter just kept the right foot buried and squared us up. He later admitted he was "anxious"! After a very brief visit to service, we went and tackled the last two forest stages. On the start line of stage 4, an Escort WRC cut in front of us as he had had problems and was late on the road. No real worries as you would expect a WRC car couuld outrun a group N car! About half way through the stage, we started catching dust, a sure sign we were catching him up. Then a s we rounded a bend in to a dip, we caught sight of debris lying in the road and saw Surefire (who was marshalling) running across the moorland to the remains of the Escort! Both crew were out of the car and OK. The last stage was 12 miles through Chirdonhead. We had nop real problems in here only a minor overshoot that cost us about 10 seconds, although lots of other cars were going off like the Evo that was in 2nd place. That had gone off over a fast left hand crest and was lying upside down in the ditch on the right. After surviving the forests, we went to do the P-Zero super special stage at Crosby, near Carlisle. This was a blast round a purpose made course in Andrew Tinkler's front garden! It looks quite spectacular with the jumps and watersplash but we'd rather have done another 12 miler in Kielder. The result was 6th overall in the Trophy rally and first in class. Anyway, this was our best result yet and i'd like to thank Roger, Dave W and Ian for servicing for us and Peter for keeping us on the road! Scoobychick 15 May 2006, 11:29 Mark, we were on Bewshaugh fairly near the start where a right hander goes into an uphill bit, we were on the uphill bit. You did look a bit busy ;) Bob has some pics for you :) You looked to be going really, really well where we saw you so congrats on the 6th overall and first in class :thumb: mark@wrx 15 May 2006, 13:41 You looked to be going really, really well where we saw you so congrats on the 6th overall and first in class :thumb: Thanks Sal. It was the first time in ages that Peter actually had confidence in the car and himself. Just a pity we couldn't recce it to sort out those inconsistant notes! Tried underexposing a little using the exposure lock, but not quite there yet. Seemed to get most of the cars and background OK but got a lot of glare from surfaces catching the light. Do you use any filters at all Bob? Or do you underexpose by any particualar amounts? Cheers for any advice, Steve mark@wrx 16 May 2006, 07:51 Nice pics Bob.:thumb: Ste, you're slacking!
