Ok, I've got a roof rack It's a mont blanc and I've got a '97 sport saloon.
I'm having bother getting one of the metal plates clipped in the roof.
Both front plates clip in easy, the drivers rear clips in easy. The passenger rear just ain't going in.

Does anyone have any ideas at what I can do, other than grovelling at my nearest dealer.

This is stopping me getting the mountain bike on, and also that visit to Ikea ( not a bad thing at the moment).

 

I'm sure there was a thread on this a month or three ago. Try searching 'roof bars'.

 

Yep found that thread. Should have looked in the first place.

So I'm gonna try the following options
1. Washing up Liquid
2. Small screwdriver ( clear rubber under clip in roof)
3. Wife takes to dealership ( I'll need to borrow someones ).

After a long time trying to fit my roof rack, I got totally pissed off with such a crap design and took a file to the little clips which fit on the roof. Nothing too drastic, just thin down the plastic coating which covers the clips. If you look at the clips you will see marks on the plastic where they have been touching the brackets on the car. This is where to file, it makes fitting them much easier and as long as you don't file metal away doesn't affect their strength.

Of course, you may wonder why we have to do this, having just paid a lot of money for something which doesn't actually fit properly.....
