I have a Bosch dishwasher - FD 7812, has a side dispenser for the cleaning tablet - ie pop tablet in, slide it closed, then it slides open during the wash.
9 times out of 10 the slider fails to open during the wash, meaning at the end of the wash you have uncleaned stuff & a mess in the dispenser where the tablet has got wet & turned to mush but not been dispensed.

If you close the slider with your hands, you can slide it open again easily - ie it doesn't feel at all stuck or hindered in any way.

Any ideas ?

Ours does that every now and again. we just clean the dispenser and the area around it.

We also make sure that nothing on the upper shelf will stop it from opening.

we had the same with a baumatic dishwasher. first couple of times i thought it was being obstructed so made the effort to check every time. turned out to be the electronic controller which opens the dispenser (and it was replaced 2 days before the warranty expired)

Thanks guys - will check nothing is stopping it & the controller (like I know where that is or how to tell if its broken ot not !)

i didn't diagnose it - the repair engineer did. luckily it was in warranty (just), so i called them and they just dealt with the fault. trying running the dishwasher on it shosrtest programme with nothing in it and listening for the door. if there's nothing it and therefore nothing physically restricting it, you may be best calling a repair bloke to deal with it for you (or asking a friend/relative who can sort it)
