Saw the thread for the AGM and thought, that'd be good to go to as i've been a member for 3 years now and this would be a first. I calculated that as the Karting was starting at 11am and that it was a 3hr event the AGM would be starting around 2.30pm - WRONG !
Drove the 2hrs from Bristol to arrive at 2.15pm to find the Karting had not long started and would be finished at 4.30pm, meaning the AGM would not be going until well gone 5. I spoke to a few old friends and left early because I didn't want to wait that long and get home late. A fair few others looked like they were doing the same.
Pete/Stef, I certainly don't want to be critical as I know how hard it is to organise things but, is it a good idea to try and do the AGM with another event ? Not everyone wants to do both so are fairly vulnerable if timings go astray and they have travelled long distances.
Steve.

Steve
Perhaps the bad weather had something to do with it.....??
Floods/torrential rain/roads blocked/accidents etc.
It certainly stopped me going altogether, see my thread below, and I know others were delayed getting there...I know Mr Croney is a God but I don't think he can control the weather yet....:D:D;);)

Oh, and the karting was changed to start at 12:00 not 11:00 (but I grant you that it was done at the last minute and wasn't well publicised on here/SIDC forums).
I do understand your point but sometimes things such as the weather wreck any plans:(

Dave,
Yep, fair comment about the weather. When I left(and returned) Bristol the sun was shining though !!
Interested to hear that the start time was changed at the last minute to 12 Noon. Just makes me feel we should not try and do other events with the AGM. Surely on something that people are going to be travelling to from miles around the last thing you should be doing is changing the plans.(don't know the reasons)

I think the idea to have an Event before the meeting itself was a top idea and think that we should do that again next year!!!! :D
The Karting was excellent (though a bit wet ;);) ) - as others have said though, it really should have started earlier - if we had started @ 11 then there would have been no problem as we were undecided about going to the AGM in the end which started at about 5:15. Glad we decided to stay though.
In short, please can we start earlier next time but do have another Karting event as it rocked!!! :D:D:D

Steve,
I was glad you made the trip though :)
I'll hopefully get round to fitting it this week, weather permitting :)

It was a great day....even if the weather was cr@p :D:D
IMHO...next year it might be better to hold the AGM 1st....then lunch (at least then us fat gits wouldn't be at such a disadvantage:D:D:D)....then track....we would possibly then have more at the meeting....people could then watch the event if they wanted, and not be concerned about leaving early :D
Just my opinion :D
